  • Climate control - thoughts?

    Hi there

I know diesels take a while to warm up (hence the idle up function) but does anyone else think the heater takes forever to get going in these things?

I know I'm in arctic Victoria and this winter is bad but it can take up to 5 minutes for the CC to start heating the cabin. Is this usual as most sedans I have owned etc have been very quick to generate heat.

Yes, fairly normal with diesels because they generally have an iron block to cope with the high compression involved, whereas modern petrol engines use an aluminium block.

I love jumping into a freezing car after nightshift and it seems to take a while to warm up, at a guess about 5 minutes of driving. For what its worth its about the same time as the Jackaroo Diesel. Our work Hilux`s are the same, takes a little while to warm up and the diesels longer than the petrol. Maybe its just the way the petrol is driven
The climate control , however works well.
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. It does take a long time, I find that the built in electrical seat heater warms up well before the aircon has even thought about getting warm. Who would have thought that you would need a seat heater in sunny WA
