  • Photos of the cargo area of a GX

Is there anyone out there who has a GX that can post up a photo of what the rear cargo area looks like. I have been to Toyota today and taken a 150 for a test drive but they only have GXL's in stock. We are going through the debate of GX vs GXL and want to know if there is any difference inside the cargo area, apart from the obvious 3rd row seats.

    Thanks
    Ando

One more bit of info. Can anyone with a GXl tell me what these things are that take up quite a bit of the cargo area which I have circled in red (photo borrowed from someone elses post)? Are they for the rear aircon? Does the GX have these?

Check out the thread for What to do with the rear seats. I have our GX photo in there. The circled items is the trim covering the wheel arches.

Thanks for pointing me to that barajak. It confirms what I suspected - that these trims on the GXL protrude much more into the cargo area than the GX ones.

Just had a look at a 150 GXL today. Toyota must be kidding with that crap rear/middle seat set up. Inefficient and impractical and a big step backwards. Also the smaller rear fuel tank is a joke- the chassis and floor there is the same as the 120 and theer is room for the bigger tank from the 120.
The GX seat set-up needs to be available on the GXL OR the 120 seat t-up should be there. The 150 is off my list until they fix this dodgy "design" work.

Re: Photos of the cargo area of a GX

I have been holding off on buying a 150 series as I want the extra features that a GXL has over the GX, but have no need for a third row of seats. In fact these seats and higher rear floor pose a significant disadvantage for me. The vehicle is unlikely to carry more than three passengers and the lower rear floor line in the rear of the GX would suit me better for touring with drawers and fridge slide. Three door variants are hideously ugly to my eyes and I want the larger size and flexibilty of having four doors.

Having read the thread in the Diesel engine section with the possibility of an upgraded slightly more powerful D4D in the 2011 Model Year range, I really hope Toyota makes the third row seats a delete option in the GXL if they give the 150 series a slight tweak for the Australian market.

The trim in the GXL is higher because of the mouldings for the cupholders for the 3rd row seats.

Yeah Amts that seems to be the case. The GXL 3rd row area seems to be well set up for the 3rd row passengers with the rear aircon vents, airbags, cupholders, etc, but for anyone wanting to set their vehicle up for serious touring (like us) it is a real disadvantage. Somehow I have to convince the wife to forego some of the GXL trinkets for GX practicality. I think I will just have to go aftermarket for the GXL bits we really want - the reversing camera and the 7.5" wheels.

As requested, here is a photo. Note: GX can be purchased with 7 seats, but the photo below is the 5 seater:

Notice the raised floor and the different shape of the interior wheel arch towers.

And the 5 seater GXL with the raised floor removed to fit drawers and fridge, which would be similar to a 5 seater GX:

Can I ask a slightly off topic question.
What is behind the second lift out panel on the rear door ?
I presume the smaller one is for the toolkit, like the 120. But there is now a larger one on the other side.
In the 120 we have an open recess there with some netting, which is actually pretty useless for storing things.
                      Cheers, Wayne

It's a storage area for the warning reflector option, which I think is for overseas models. (page 432 and 433 of manual)

Not much use for me as yet, can't think of anything I'd like to store in mine.

Thanks for the photos Lawrence. I now have my own GX as of a couple of weeks ago.

I just got the kit from Blackwidow to adapt the drawers from my 90 series to the 150 and I hope to get them installed this week.
