      Folks

What is the fuss about? Every vehicle is a compramise, when you bought the car the mudlaps were on it, if you want to do extensive gravel or off road then you will modify other things as well. I have put a set of Gravel Rush mudflaps on my car and have just done 6000k's of gravel with not a mark on the paint.

I don't like other things in the car such as not enough 12v outlets in the front but knew that when I bought the car and have done my own upgrade.Look at Toyotas market for the Prado, 90% are sold as soccer mum taxis.

i sort of agree with you. I was aware that I would have problems when on gravel, however didn't have time or couldn't find a solution. I will have a look into these Gravel rash mudguards. however i must say I was pissed off. I don't consider myself stupid, but i guess my problem was coming from a 120 Prado. I didn't have the same problem, although still some issues with mudguards. I have done a LOT of kms on the 120 with sand blasting of the back. last week I did probably 400kms on gravel/dirt roads and was very surprised to see that my white prado rear now looks worse than my 2004 120. it got smashed.
I was also interested that there seems to be hundreds of 150 series out west - even the mining companies have them. all standard mudguards - same issues. I would hate to see what a GX would look like after even 100kms on gravel without the side-steps.

6000kms on gravel - bloody hell. where do you find that much gravel? good effort. I did 2700kms last week to the mines in western Qld and probably did 400kms or so on dirt.
150 GXL Diesel (white) 09/10. ARB Deluxe bullbar colour coded, Lightforce 240 (HID), Winch, Tuffdog suspension, Mickey Thomson ATZ, tint, UHF, airbags, compressor, dual batteries,... and more stuff.

I have now setup http://www.fixmypradomudflaps.com which takes you straight to the petition page. Feel free to promote this to other 4wders and Prado owners.

I will pop a thread on the general page as well and hopefully some 120 and 90 owners will sign it for us too.

          Cheers, Sam.
Sam you are a legend, I am also going to register my concern with the Service Dept where I bought my Prado. Thanks for taking this initiative.

            Hi Cookymonster

The short answer is SEQ Pradpoint trip to Barrington Tops, then Bourke, then the Darling River Run to Menindee Lakes, Broken Hill to Flinders Ranges, Arkaroolla to Maree and back, up the Strezlecki, back down to Broken Hill, then back to Brisvegas. We planned to do as much off bitumen as possible, 6000k's gravel in about 8500k's all up.

I am super impressed in the Gravel Rush product, we even had a kangaroo jump into the drivers side, hit the mudflap, guard and door, not a mark on the mudflap. Like everytning we put on our Prados, you buy a product to suit the usage, allbeit suspension, tyres, drawers, roof racks, seat covers etc etc.

            Regards, Richo and Gay.

I have setup an online petition for the issue we are having with the insufficient mud flap design on the 150 Prado. Once we have a good number of signatures, I will setup a proper domain name (http://www.fixmypradomudflaps.com) and submit a letter to the 4wd magazines promoting it.

Hopefully, we get enough for Toyota to listen to our concern and provide a solution.

the petition can be found here http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/pradomudflaps/. I am happy to receive comments on how we can improve the wording or if you feel anything else can be added. If you have photos of damage to your vehicle as the result of the mud flaps, please post them on the blog' section.

              Cheers, Sam.
              Hi Guys,
why I am not a 150 owner I have a good friend who is. I believe he has talked to the service department where he got the car and has been informed Toyota are already working on a solution for this issue. I will check with him tomorrow to find out the exact details. Have any of you guys talked to them yet?

              Neil

I also registered my concerns with the local Toyota where I bought my Prado and the service manager confirmed that Toyoto is aware of the issue and is looking at it. We need more pressure.

              Cheers Lapinas

Group buy time maybe to bring the price down a bit???

Mind you my $30 insertion rubber flaps seem to be doing the job nicely at the moment. Don't look as flash as the Gravel Rush ones though. I wonder whether Bunnings sells money trees

Anyone care to post some photos of the final Gravel Rush design?

An update from Toyota Customer Experience...

"Thank you for your recent email received by the Toyota Customer Experience Centre.

Toyota Motor Corporation Australia (TMCA) can confirm that the design of the Prado 150 mudflaps is under investigation and an announcement regarding this is due to be made in the not too distant future.

We cannot advise whether any update will be covered under warranty but we have taken this opportunity to forward your feedback onto the relevant department for consideration."

                      Sounding promising.

                      Cheers, Sam.
