I didn't mention it because I have been sheepishly tip-toeing around on any gravel roads I came across and cringing at possible paint damage. None so far.

fortunately I have a white prado. Panel beaters said about $300 to respray and repair rear bumper - not as bad as I thought. mine is pretty hammered from stone damage.

FYI, I went to Essendon Airport Toyota (Melbourne) for the 10k service and enquired about the new mudflaps, they could not find any info on that.
Guess I will have to wait for a while

There is a technical bulletin released. I have seen it with my own eyes on the dealers computer. If you don't have any luck with your dealer email Toyota Australia and they will get in touch with you and give you a case number. Once you tell your dealer you have a case number issued from Toyota HQ that usually motivates them.
It took Toyota about 18 hours to get into contact with me after emailing them from there web site.

Had my new flaps installed yesterday and they look great and functional. They didn't paint the section on the rear flaps that mates up to the rear bumper, but the black isn't that noticeable on the graphite.

On the WA front, I have heard that Mandurah Toyota got two of the 100 sets and they are earmarked for a couple of farmers vehicles for a trial

Got a call from my local dealer this afternoon to say that they had a set of mudflaps for me and would be able to fit them this Thursday.
I complained about the poor design of the original ones back in October and again at my 10k service so Im very happy that Toyota has come good for me.
Going to put the squeeze on them to repair the stone chips to my rear doors, sills and quarter panels on Thursday:x

I contacted my local dealer who didn't know anything about it but are going to follow this up with Toyota Australia. I them emailed Toyota Australia and was impressed with the reply back within a day or so.

However, Toyota Australia (as of today's date) told me they are unaware of any Technical Bulletins relating to the mudflaps. They said they will contact my dealer and arrange for a review of my mudflap issue and see whether or not they can be of any further help.

Read my posting about Toyota being fully aware and the mining companies getting first dibs. They speak to you with forked tongue.

I'd like to try the U.S.A. trick of declaring a no-fly zone over Toyota Australia then bombing the crap out of them. They are a waste of time. Their care-factor is ZERO.

What email address did you send it to? What information did you supply?
I rang Toyota and they said they knew nothing about the mud flap problem or about a technical bulletin.

Had my new mudflaps fitted today and whilst it was in, the dealer took photos of the stone damage to submit a warranty claim to repaint the affected areas.
Stewart Toyota were fully aware of the issue and to give them credit, they have only been too helpful,

Got an e-mail from my Toyota dealership today. My longer mudflaps have arrived and I should be getting them fitted next Thursday morning.

I have it on good advice (again!) that Toyota will repair any Prado's with stone damage from gravel driving with the shorter mudflaps. Also, they are not making the longer mudflaps a recall or general knowledge but instead will wait for individual customers to complain that they do not like the short ones.

There is rumour that all new Prado's will have the longer mudflaps as a standard fitting.

I too was told from two separate sources that all new 150s will be fitted with the new mud flaps. That doesn't help us with the shorter style flaps though...

Who is going to 'repair' this stone damage - is what would concern me. There is a 'proper' repair by those qualified to do such and a bodged 'dealer spray can nonsense' type of repair leaving overspray and and all sorts of issues. Not properly baked on etc, etc,....

Would give me nightmares!! :shock:
