  • Starting Problems

Have been having ignition problems with 150 series Diesel Automatic 2010 Prado. Intermediatly does not fire - sounds like a rattle gun - starter motor turning over but no ignition - Leave for 15 mins or so and will then start. Has happened when cold and warm. Has been in Toyota service for 2 days and they cannot find a problem - starts every time for them. Has anyone experienced simlar problem?

    Re: Starting Problems

If your battery is fully charged (which it sounds like it is) then it sounds like either a poor connection or the starter motor solinoid. Get an auto electrician to check it over and provide a written diagnosis (tell him it's for a warranty). Then take back to Toyota and have it fixed under warranty.

      Re: Starting Problems

Looks like the symptoms of the starter motor dying. Had the same issue, you try to start it and it won't start from the first go.
Try again in couple of minutes and all is good. Then is gets worse as a time goes on...

      Cheers,

      Stan
