Re: Why do prado owners go for white?

AFAIK white is the only colour the dealership detailers dont cut back and buff! the less those guys touch my cars the better, so i guess you get "more" paint than the others....also too white is easier to match after a prang.....silver/metallics are a real pain and i am yet to see a invisible repair

    cheers

Agreed, I was planning on getting a VX in Pearl White to begin with, however, I was informed that colour matching (for repairs) for this particular colour was extremely difficult.

I went for white as alot of people I work with have Prados. about 95% are either silver or graphite (dark grey). I wanted something different. I got white and had many comments about how "clean" and classy it looked.

Only problem is around these parts there are a lot of white Prados but they have yellow reflective stripes and high mount lights on the roof!

Same here. Most cars in germany are silver, black or a kind of dark colour.

I choosed white, because it looks more like a "working-horse", not like a show-car. Most Landcruiser in Africa are white ....

Re: Why do prado owners go for white?

Was in Russia recently. Lots of Prados, nearly all black with black windows. Also saw some with a matt black finish. Looked strange!! In one Toyota yard every vehicle was black.

Re: Why do prado owners go for white?

We had the same dilema, trying to decide. Last Toyo was Black, never gain, shows the dirt and scratches. We really liked Graphite, Silver and White. Changed our minds about 7 times. In the end we went for white and we are extremely happy with how it looks. final toss up was between white and silver. couple of blokes at work have graphite in Hilux and 120 Prado. Looks good but shows scratches and swirl marks from bad polishing. It's really your own personal taste!! Cheers Sunwal072

                  very simple.....white is best....
had a green patrol absoluely hated it ( the color).
all my cars have been white..
wash the white prado sit back and enjoy
any other color keep washing and never enjoy...

Re: Why do prado owners go for white?

I've had a black car...and had it resprayed because it had fine white scratches and carpark dings which were really noticeable which is frustrating for any perfectionist. You would clean it in the morning and by the afternoon it was dusty! I'll never get black again but admit they look pretty nice when all clean.

I've had a metallic silver car...thought silver looked good and might be better than going with black. When it gets dirty it looked ordinary IMO.

The first car I had was white (a little Holden Drover with the poxy 80's colour striping) and it looked great when cleaned. I guess I've learn't my lesson as above. I've now turned full circle and got a Glacier White Prado 150 and it's great - minor scratches are not very noticeable.

                    Regards

Re: Why do prado owners go for white?

Black is a popular colour here in the UK - indeed all the 150s I have seen have been black - mine is black - and yes it does show marks very easy - but IMO nothing beats the look of a black car when detailed properly

This is fine if you enjoy detailing ... which I have only recently got into (see 'detailing world.com') - and spent a fortune on stuff.... "how much have you spent just to clean that damn car?' .... they just don't understand .... 8)

Mind you if I lived in Aust and had brush and stuff to drive through - I don't think I would have got it in black!

Well frankly, I've not spent anything on detailing mine - it gets a hose and a scrub occasionally, but then it is white. ;-)

Went with white on mine for many of the previously stated reasons (cooler in summer, easy to see on the road, etc) but also because we were trying to get as close to the luxury car tax cut-off and white saved us $500.

Over the years I've gravitated to white anyway. First up was a silver corolla, then a white bluebird, then a maroon xf fairmont ghia, then a maroon 64 Studebaker cruiser, then a white 69 valiant ute, then a white 4wd triton dual cab and now the white prado.

The white cars appeared cleaner more often (not actually clean, just looked like it from a distance), and were definitely cooler to get in to after sitting in the sun for a few hours (although the dark green vinyl seats on the valiant were nasty).

As for black accessories, I've opted for the cleaner looking matching white bar. If I could get a snorkel in white, I'd do that too.

Perhaps it was a KGB used vehicle clearance yard?

My reason for a white was resale , I lease my cars for 2 years and sell them with 1 years warranty. So white is the most popular color so will be easier to resell .

Hardly noticeable compared to any bush-pinstriping that it is likely to get. Besides, last time I looked, the wheel wheels, wheels and steps don't have paint on them to scratch.
