Not 'paint' as such .... but they will show scratches ......
Maybe, but no moreso than the mud / gravel / sand that peppers these areas whenever I take it off-road.
Gotta get this sort of stuff off somehow:

 oh my goodness ...... ... what a mess ..... would give me palpations seeing that and trying to get it back ..... I admit though - the furthest I've got to taking mine off road so far is up the kerb!!
I can see why the iddy biddy mudflaps aren't much good in those conditions - mind - even mine has got road rash in the usual places...... I'd like to see a piccy when its been cleaned.
Hi Fellas. One reason - "white is cool" literally! Also doesn't show panel damage like other colours. Is easier for touch-up work. Easy to sell. Looks good with a buff and tyre black. Cheers, Derb.

As mentioned white does not show the scratches, looks to be clean, even if not.
Looks good with black accessories, is cooler on hot sunny days.
Safer as doesn't "blend" into the grey bitumen like silver or the other dark colours.
Stays looking good even after many years, does not fade.
Does not date so easier colour to sell.
Only problem is the paint being stripped off the rear guard due to the dodgy mudflaps exposes the black base colour under the paint!
I will be ordering a white Prado next week - the big dilemma i face is what interior colour should i go for - standard grey fabric or something different and order the ivory fabric trim?
Personally I’ve never seen white / ivory trim - anybody out there with this combo?
I would have gone for white too. I have Sandstone colour because it impresses the Chinese. Wife is Chinese. It's a culture thing. Likewise having an "8" in the registration number for luck. "4" sounds like death and is avoided by the Chinese.
Anyway, back to colour. Years ago I read that the Germans did research and proved that the most dangerous colour for a vehicle is dark blue. The safest colour is day-glo orange, and the next safest is yellow. Road work vehicles are yellow for that reason. Safety! White is a safe colour too. Dark blue blends in with the bitumen colour and is at the ultra violet end of the spectrum. Think ultra violet haze and you can disappear a bit. Also dark blue reflects less light waves than white.
White is cool because it reflects all of the colours in the spectrum. Black is the hottest because black is not a colour and all of the the light waves are absorbed and turned into energy (heat).
White vehicles don't show the dirt. This sounds silly but I have had white vehicles that have become dirty and didn't look it. Of course that is different if the dirt is red dust but if it is normal road grime then the dirt is not very obvious.
Oh yes, day-glo orange used to be all the rage for safety vests but our eyes are most sensitive to green light. That is why safety vests are fluorescent green and not orange these days. Also ambulances in some countries are green. But for us Prado owners these bright colours are a bit too bling! White is good.
I think white was the only "non-metallic" paint option for the 150 D4D GXL from memory.
I had a metallic white subaru, and daughter dear scratched/dented a door on post.....well, the whole side of the car (and beyond) had to be resprayed to get a good repair (under insurance), as colour matching metallic paints is very difficult.
I am hoping that the non-metallic white paint will result in a considerably cheaper repair if a door gets a big scratch/dent (and thus avoid an insurance claim and an excess payment)....hopefully.
....anyway, the white has been great so far.

Not a fan of white at all. Good if you're gonna scratch it up though. Saw a white kakadu today, just looked like one of the many mining vehicles in my area, just missing the yellow stripe and orange lights
