Well, it's been almost a week since I brought the new car home, and I must say that I absolutely love it, so it's time to put together a bit of a build up to document the metamorphysis.
When I picked it up from the dealer it had been fitted with headlight and bonnet protectors, front weathershields and window tint.
Would have liked to tint to be a bit darker but I was told that was the darkest legal tint they could do.
Things have happened pretty quickly in the first week with the first stop being a visit to my friendly local tyre service and the original 6.5 inch alloys and Grandcrap tyres being discarded and a set of Speedy Avalanche 7.5 rims fitted and my BFG AT's that I had in my shed.
They also removed the spare wheel cover and backing plate which was a case of simply undoing 4 bolts and a plastic clip and it practically fell off.
Looks much better without it I think.
Next came a set of Sandgrabba mats all round cause I reckon they offer the best protection for the carpets.
Then it was off to Roof Rack City at Miranda to pick up a set of 6 Rhino Mounting Pads so I could fit my Rhino HD bars and roof basket, shovel holders as well as my ARB awning, in preparation for this years GTG.
Yesterday was spent installing my GME TX3400 remote head UHF.
I dis-assembled the centre console so that I could tap into the power to the 12volt socket and ran the power up under the dash to where I mounted the transponder to a bracket with a captive nut already on it. Plenty of room under there for it too.
Bolted the Z bracket for the aerial to an existing bolt next the the bonnet strut and once again it was too easy.Ran the lead through the rubber grommet which has the 2 little nipples on it which can be cut off, a bit of soldering on the end of the lead to reconnect the aerial plug and all was good.
Then I mounted the remote head with velco tape to the centre console next to my knee and that part was done. Just have to buy some double sided tape to mount the microphone on the little vertical trim piece.
I also installed my Scanguage during the week and there seems to be a discrepancy of about 2 litres per 100km from it and what the readout on the dash is telling me but that may change once I calibrate the Scanguage at the next fill.
Next things to come are the OME 2inch lift kit which won't be installed until after I get back from the GTG and the Toyota towbar that I managed to pick up off Ebay for $60.00. Pretty happy with that bargain as it looks pretty much new.
I'll add photos of this when it's all done.
Dobbo.
