  • If only cosmetic mods were this cheap and easy

    Hi all,
Been receiving a couple PM/Email about my display pic and thought I may as well share it with you all. No it is not my car, nor does it exist (not to my knowledge anyway). I merely photoshopped them to get glimpse of what could be..

It all started out while looking at some of the buildup threads on PradoPoint. I was curious as to what kind of tint I wanted for my White GXL, which will be arriving in about a week.

    Tint added

Later I was looking for a solution to the mud flap issue by using vinyl. Having heard some people were using clear 3M film, I figured, why not try out black? It looked alright, but it lacked something… some writing! So I slapped on the PRADO lettering.

Having seen kakadaz’s chrome handles, I hopped on ebay and found side mirror and handle covers. A quick paint job could see them being black. I’ve always liked black handles on white Prados and am not sure why they did it on the lower GX model and ditched it on the GXL upwards. To match the bottom, I made the rear spoiler black also.

Having an ARB Sahara bar on order, I couldn’t find the right angle on any photos, so I simply painted one on haha. Looks dodgy I know.

Seeing tasprado’s setup was an inspiration to this, especially with the painted black rims. So I figured, why not! Let’s see what it looks like – turned out to be darn aggressive IMO.

And here’s one with an extra tint (20%) on the 3rd row seat sides

I’ve also got an OME lift kit and BFGs on order that should be Photoshop in but that would take too much effort; besides, it won’t look too much different to what it is already. Also thinking of putting some of zerosecta’s carbon-fiber-like stickers... I doubt most of these mods will ever be realized but there’s no harm in looking. Rice... maybe, at least the vinyl actually has a purpose - protecting the paint.

    What do you think?

    Cheers

        Nice work Will,

        I to like it

Have to say though it does look a little to ganster for me with the black stripe at the bottom and the spoiler balck as well.

Who knows though might not look so bad in the flesh.

PM - Me when you get your Prado, I got the perfect drive and garage (off street) to have a couple of beers and slap some vinyl onto her - worst case, we just pull it off

Yeah, I think the vinyl & wheels is pushing it a bit, but without it, it looks like a contractors car

Thanks zerosecta. Gangsta? I kinda thought it looked a little Penguin-ish What if I were to change "PRADO" to "4X4 PENGUIN" or something along that line   Yeah I'm not too sure how it would look after it's done too. I saw an early model commodore in the neighbourhood with a similar black vinyl job and it looks horrible. Probably because it was dirty, especially inside the wheel arches. Should be getting the car earlier (next week), might drop you a PM to get some vinyl put on

          Cheers
