Hi All,

After 2.5 years in the LC200 it is time to go back to the Prado - so it was down to the old dealership on Saturday and signed up for a new VX. Boat is due in 11/12 so should get it for Christmas. This will give me plenty of time to think about Sahara bars and tyres for the new truck.

A couple of questions:

Is there a rear video output on the factory sat nav upgrade in the VX? I would like to run a rear screen for the little one for the longer trips.

Does anyone know of a way of overriding the need to have the parkbrake on to use the full features of the Sat Nav system?

New Crystal Pearl VX TD on Order

I asked Toyota about the video out/in and was told that there were none.

The unit is under the front drivers seat and there are a couple of empty sockets on the unit but looked propriety multi pin type - but not sure.


Keen to hear if there is a way to use satnav and phone via display while moving also.

Did notice that I could use satnav while being towed on a car ferry so maybe it's not based on gps movement - but then again boat was only going pretty slow...

(btw I have the crystal pearl also - very happy with how clean it looks regardless how hard I try... Think I have only washed it twice in the last 10k...)

Nice to hear about others have the crystal pearl VX on order. I ordered mine last Friday (29/10) and it has arrived at the dealer today (8/11) ready for pick up this Friday. I did not go the sat nav but in a way would have liked to. I was after the ivory interior and the only ones on the current boat did not have sat nav. I am happy that it is here and starting to get a little excited. I will miss the 120 though she has been a great bus and taken us on many hassle free kilometres.

Have asked the workshop at the dealership I used to work at, about cables/connectors for the video out on the SATNAV/DVD. I am sure with a carton of currency or two I will get a good end result (happy 5 year old on long trips). Once I have details I will be happy to share.

I went for the Crystal Pearl after having a Graphite LC200 - the first time we took the LC200 off road it came back with battlescares from branches etc, really noticable in the paint work. I also find it a little painful having to wash it weekly (its ok for the first 6 months while it is new, but that soon fades).

The old D4D GXL Prado we had in white had non of these problems - didn't show the scratches and could go ages without washing. I hope the 070 colour will be the same, and from the sound of Aualexr's post washing maybe reduced to once every month or two.

For interior I have gone for the black, the ivory looks great, would be great for work, and I could of got one straight away, but the thought of the red pindan dust, the dog and the little girl on our first camping trip up north - shudder.

What sort of present would you suggest, as someone who has obviously been in the business? Some mats or plastics would be nice but I didn't include these in the original push for $!!!! Maybe some fuel would be good as I am sure it will have only about 5 litres in it!!!!!!!!!!!

Must be the thing to do trading out of 200's....

I too have have just ordered a c/pearl - Kakadu after 3 years in a 200....

Have gained quite a a bit of insider info from this forum so far, excellent site.

Hope to contribute a little as well as vacuum up all your good intel.

Hi Rob,
No real issues with the LC200 when touring/4WDing - it was a very comfortable car. Big issues in finding parking spaces.
I visited some clients in the CBD two weeks ago and I had to try 3 different car bays - the first two - I couldn't open the doors, (this is pretty regular).
Aside from this I turn my cars over every 2-3 years.

Pickup up the new VX last night - drove it home from the dealership - about 5 mins - wife has taken it to be a shopping trolley this morning, so I can't wait to go for a long Saturday afternoon drive.

Accessories Fitted:

Charge master dual battery system with AGM battery (straight out of the LC200) - required a new battery tray.
Gen Toyota Alloy Bull Bar.
Lightforce Genesis HID lights (Had the XGT240's on the LC200 so I can't wait to see the difference)
Poly Air Bags at the Rear
Rhino Sportz Bars
TX3440 radio

Havent decided on tyres - had Mickey Thompsons ATZ 5 plys on the LC200 - got 70400km out of them (they are still in top nick but that was the odo when traded yesterday).
