    Re: Surface Rust on Exhaust

Sent some photos of the rust to my service manager and he's agreed to investigate during the 10,000km service. He suggested that the salt from the sand driving may have caused the rust. I'd be disappointed if the design of the under body couldn't cope with a tiny amount of beach (not through water) driving without rusting. We'll see what happens at the service. I imagine they can remove what will only be surface rust at this stage and then treat it with something to protect from further rust.

Re the exhaust rust. I had the car in at TJM this morning trying to figure out why their under guard doesn't fit and the guy there reckons it's not so much rust on the exhaust but rather water 'burnt' onto it. He said they run at such high temps that when they come into contact with any water, the turn brown, including stainless systems.

    Cheers, Sam.
