150 Series Toyota Dash Mat

I know its not Toyota's fault that i nearly had the Prado up over the median strip on the way to the Perth 4WD show today, but if the Genuine Dash Mat was actually designed for the 150 then i would not have been "ranting" at the missus and showing her how totally useless the rectangle and the curve is on the Drivers side. Looked inside a 120 series that had a dash mat today and it has two vents Driver and Passenger, hence two rectangle cut-outs with curves to mould into the edges - everything designed and in harmony with the dash - but the 150 has straight edge on the passenger side (all good) and this rectangle that is not even close to the highest vent on the drivers side and this curve that currently sits bent up against the RHS window frame. Everytime i drive the car it's all i see! Is this unique to my car (i.e. wrong mat has been fitted), or are all dash mats in the 150 the same?

Maybe a couple of photo's would help to explain the issue?

I've got an Autobarn cheapie and it fits very well, looks cheap but fits well.

Never seen nor heard of a 'dashmat' .... what on earth.....?? :shock: ... something to protect the dash from the sun? - something probably not to concern myself here in the UK...

This is what it happens if you pull down the dashmat so the "hole" lines up with the vent and so the 'curve' goes around the window door frame - entire mat is then out of shape

I do not think that is the correct mat, mine looks different and fits like a glove. I would make a call to your dealer and see if you can get the right one. I was told when I ordered mine that they (Toyota) do not have an OE mat and that the spare parts would source one through a local supplier. Mine is a Haigh brand.

Mine is a genuine dash mat from Toyota and it fits like a glove, first they tried to sell me one for the 120 model. You have the wrong one for sure !!!!

Thats not right at all!

I purchased one from Canterbury Seat Covers in Sydney. It cost about $50-60 ( not as cheap as I have found for previous cars ). But it does a great job and fits well.

Hey about those dash mats, do they have a cutout area for the speakers that are on top? I have always had them with new cars but I wasn't so sure with all the ''extra'' bits that are on the dash now, air bags, security flashers etc.. Hope Toyota give you a new mat cause that one is a shocker!!

The RHS is similar to the 120, but the 120 also has a vent and recantular cut-out on the LHS (well the one i saw did anyways), no such cut-out for the 150 and it sits further back on the dash than the 120 appears to.

I have it booked in for the 1000km complimentary service/check this Friday and the sales guy I have been dealing with told me to bring it in and they will take a look. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks for the feedback. Good to know that I am not alone in thinking it's not the right fit.
