So after cleaning the car today from the 1200km trip, I noticed HEAPS of tar/rubber along side the car and on the rear bumper. I've got BFG A/T 265/65s on them, is this normal? It was a real pain to get off and I can't imagine doing this every time I return from a trip. It contrasts against the white paint very well, starting to regret not getting graphite!

But seriously, I didn't do any hard braking or accelerating, is it just the tyres being "broken in"?
I've never had this problem with any other car that I've had. Then again I've never had BFGs on them...William

Re: Excessive tar/rubber from BFGs?
I have had two sets of BFG in the past and now run 694 Bridgestones, but I never had such an issue. Even with sticky rubber on the other car.
I don`t believe its a tyre issue, imo its just that you have run over recently laid fresh bitumen.
My car is graphite and where as its not immediately obvious it still gets tar spots on it. They do take a bit of effort to clean, I try and wash my car regularly and stay on top of it.
Not a car polish expert, but I use a claybar and then a paint cleaner and then the polish. However I am lazy so need something that works quick and is easy to use.
There is plenty of other good products, but I happen to use this at the moment.
With regular use your paint will withstand scratches easier and in a few years still look like new, its worth it.

here is a pic of work colleagues car after he ran over freshly laid bitumen, it was near the end of day with slight drizzle and they were in a hurry to go home and reopened the road to soon.
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.

Re: Excessive tar/rubber from BFGs?
I have had the exact same thing happen to me. I just picked up the 150 and the car was parked over the weekend, I don't have a spare wheel cover as I fitted the 265 bfg's we had a lot of rain over the weekend and when I came home there were large brown streaks down my back door and all over my bumper. I notified the dealer and in the end they had to buff the stains out it was that bad! He said he spoke the the bfg guy and he said he has never heard of this before? I think there is an issue with some sort of coating that they put on their tyres for transport.
Cheers

Re: Excessive tar/rubber from BFGs?
The stains I am talking about are coming from the spare wheel, something is leaking off the back door tyre (I have no spare cover) and onto the door and onto the bumber. It appears that the dealer has coated something on the spare tyre pre delivery.
