I have recently ordered a GXL D4D, due for delivery mid January. Since I ordered I have started to read the post on Pradopoint. Lots of fantastic information but I am beginning to wonder if I have ordered the wrong car after reading so many negative comments about the deficiencies of the vehicle. It would be fantastic to read about the positive aspects for a change to stop me worrying about spending the $64 K on a lemon.
    Regards
    Tezza

Tezza - don't worry. negative comments are always magnified via forums and the like. But sales figures and re-sale values prove otherwise. The Prados are generally bullet-proof. Sure, you bought late and got a 150 instead of a 120... but you still won't regret it.

Tezza I love mine, it has been great. I am sure you will love yours. Even though it is my first 4x4 I have no regrets and that's coming from a zippy wrx. I think you just have to look at the following that the 120 series has to appreciate what a great car that Toyota has made here, even if the 120's styling is starting to look old

No mods yet and still loving it. ( although a fridge and dual batt are close)

Another happy 150 owner here Tezza, it has a few shortcomings but all cars we looked at did and this one ticked all the boxes for us when it came to our list. The ride is exceptional as well as the finish. A few small things annoyed me but nothing a few aftermarket mods have not fixed. My last fix is now the mud flaps issue and I plan to fix those tomorrow with a nice new set of Hilux ones I scored from work the other day.

          Enjoy your new 150!

          Cheers Daniel

            120's all the way,

150s have grown on alot of us prado owners. however you cant go past the general reliability and outback support for these vehicles.... try taking an x5 where prados go...... !!!! money well spent compared to the other 4x4's out there.

              Hi Tezza

We bought an early 150 trading a 13 year old 90 series in. We have now done 19000k's in ours and apart from the silver trim on the door handle rubbing off (we'll have to see if Toyota will replace them at the 20000k service), not a problem. The biggest issue was having to wait for aftermarket accessories to be developed but that has been resolved now.

Ours is mainly used for touring, last trip in October was 8500km's with 6000 of those on dirt, I'm sure that you will get a lot of enjoyment and trouble free motoring from the 150.

I love my 150. I have had 5 different brands of 4wd over the past 12 years and this is the first one that I would buy again. It's quiet, refined enough for a real 4wd, tows a 21' van without a problem and has great fuel economy.
                Thanks,

Good to hear some enthusiastic reports, I want to be looking forward to my new toy not worrying about its shortcomings. I have sold my VW golf and will sell my Landrover Defender to be replaced by the Prado and I hope that it can be a good compromise between the two. I realise that nothing is perfect but I hope that it will be close.
                  Thanks for your input.

The 150 has been an excellent choice of 4x4 for me and my family. We have had ours for 10 months and absolutley love it. It performs well in all situations for us, from a shopping trolley and 4x4 off road, to towing the camper trailer all over WA. Sure it has a few bugs but nothing major by any stretch of the imagination.
I think you will enjoy your choice of Prado as much as the thousands of other purchasors around Australia. Great choice stick with it.

I also love my 150. I'm really happy with the TD model. Around the burbs - great, off road - very capable - probably limited by me, and towing our ski boat - awesome, in fact it gets better fuel economy than my old 80 Series TD without the boat!! Unfortunately my wife loves it just as much - bit of an effort to get her to relinquish the keys... Yes it has had a few teething problems but Toyota have been pretty responsive so far. Not regretting this investment one bit. Enjoy yours

                        Hi Tezza

I also ordered a 150 GXL D4D 5 weeks ago and it is due about 17 Jan. (according to the Toyota Tracking System it's in the country now. Yours is likely to be in the same batch)

Since I sold my 1st Prado in May 2005 it has taken me 5 years to get into a position to buy another one so the 17th will be a great day.

The 1st one was a 2003 GXL V6 Petrol and the best car I ever owned - beautiful to drive and great for towing. Unfortunately circumstances forced me to sell it.

Have followed the progress of the new 150's since it was introduced including reading every review I can find, reading PP.Com from top to bottom plus talking to a few friends who have diesels and my mechanic. I went for the diesel for towing a 2ton GTM caravan I have just bought to travel the country.

Also looked a range of other 4wd's in detail - LC100's (bit long in the tooth now), 200's, Patrols, Pajeros, Tritons, Territories, BMW X5's, - this list goes on as well as the 120 D4D. Everytime it came back to the 150 D4D Prado as the best overall value for money of the lot apart from being a great 4wd.

Bought it - no extras - saves LCT - for just under $60,000 on the road.

I am looking forward to the new arrival in a couple of weeks as you now doubt are.

ntpryce is right - ignore the negatives - in most things it takes 10 positives to beat a negative. That's life!

Look forward to seeing your prado on My Rig Build one day.

                        cheers

Thought I add my two cents fellas.

Having recently traded out of 200 series into a Kakadu (TD) I can offer a favourable response.

I agree entirely re the previous comment re forums compounding negatives.

The handling on this vehicle by far exceeds all other fourbies I have driven (including the 200) and

I doubt very much you will regret your purchase/s!

                          Congrats.

I just went into the dealer this morning and mine is YR (yard ready) in Perth. Now I have to wait for a space on a truck to bring it down to the South West of WA (Bunbury). I read on PP about the number for tracing the whereabouts of your car (so I wanted my number) but it does not work in WA, apparently we have a different system to the rest of Australia. We are special!!!!!!!
Now I am just hanging out for delivery and a couple of trips to get my first 1000 done.

                              Hi Tezza

I just found out mine is not due now until 22/1 which was the original date the dealer gave me so the TT System is not much use other than a bit of fun to follow the car's progress.

Does yours have a 2011 Compliance Plate. The TT System tells me that mine will have that. Don't know if it is much use particularly as I intend to keep the car for a long time for Caravan Safaris and the big Loop(s) around Oz.

Yes WA is special - we have friends in Albany and I visit there for at least a couple of times each year. Looking forward to a longer visit one day.

                              Cheers Woody
