  • Reverse hill start recovery

I have just bought a manual 150 series and discovered it can only be started with the clutch in. That makes it impossible to do a reverse hill start recovery on a steep hill (i.e. start the engine in reverse gear with the clutch out) for a safer start back down the hill. Does anyone know how to disable this function?
Note that I've been driving a manual 90 series for a number of years. Even with diff locks front and rear just occasionally I've been beaten by very steep hills.

There is a small switch up high behind the clutch pedal that is used to control the system. I found with my shoes off I can squeeze my foot up and press it for clutch starts. A better bet would be to track the wiring and fit a momentary switch in the dash that would override this allowing hill starts.

Cheers mate, I found the switch. I prefer not to four wheel drive without boots so I'll wire in another switch in parallel. These so called safety features can turn disastrous in the bush.
