Which month/year does the ruling apply to? Mine is a 2009 model but not sure what month, wasn't registered till November.

ETA: I did find this article but it's not specific on the applicable build date :-

    http://www.news.com.au/national/toyo...-1226576092582

It also mentions the voucher being for a discount on the price of a new Toyota, didn't think you could use it for other things.

There was a list of effected models and I think it covered all the ones with leather including other models like camrys etc but your best bet is to call Toyota Australia customer service. They had to call me back but they had a record of my original Prado and the new one I had just purchased and everything was in order. I said I wasn't aware when purchasing but when I dropped it in for the first service I saw a notice on the wall of the dealership. Mind you it didn't have flashing lights around it. All they needed was the Rego number to find the VIN etc. So you can get the voucher after the ink has dried on the contract.

Good to their word my $200 Toyota Voucher arrived in the mail today. It does say to be put towards the value of a new Toyota but the dealership are happy to have me redeem it on accessories .

that is wishful thinking on their behalf, "here sir... have $200, put it toward a new $80k vehicle..."

think they might be pushing their luck with that upsell

just a note on this.. i have the kakadu with leather seats, and my experiance with previouse car i had with leather seats is no matter what you do the leather will wear and tear, yes it is easier to clean/maintain but in the end it will wear and tear.. so in light of this, i got Wetsuit seat covers, from TJM - you can check out my build thread or PM me and ill send you some photos. The reason i did this is to keep it cool one hot days, never gets hot etc, looks good (at least i think so), and easy to take off and clean and protects the leather. they are expensive around $440 for front row seat and $400 for 2nd row seats... but well worth it.

I've had plenty of cars with leather (real and composite) and much prefer the cloth, I end up putting seat covers on them all anyway, I would rather have the difference in price from the GXL to VX to buy some accessories.

                    Hey Piggy,
How did you manage to pull that one off? I'd be keen to hear what reason/argument you used, as my driver's seat leather is badly worn. Which Toyota dealership did it for you?
                    Thanks in advance.

I'll second that, and also the hid lights with AFS if you travel the mountains, have driven gxl and own the VX, kdss and hid are a must in my book
