New Vehicle Order Tracking

I have read with interest on other threads on this forum that people can track their new Prado order.
Can someone tell me how I can do this as I have recently ordered a 2011 White SX and would be extremely interested in finding out how it is done.
I have been given a delivery date of late April.

You need to get a user name and password from your dealer. I think it's something to do with your batch number but the only thing that worked for me was getting those details. Now I see that as of this afternoon my white glx has left the production line and is on the high seas. However, much as I tried, I couldn't move it along the production line any faster and only hope I can get the ship to move it along a bit. Seriously though, it's interesting that this info does bugger all, yet it is satisfying to see your vehicle make progress. For all we know it is just some computer operator yanking our chain, but I still like it.

I think the tracking status is not much more than a novelty. I'd be keen to see Toyota lift their game and start RFID tracking vehicles and providing more information. I got the logon from my dealer, it probably saves them 50 phone calls

I agree. If Apple can effectively provide tracking on a $200 IPod, surely Toyota can provide RFID Tracking on the progress of a $60K plus order!!!

Status changed to "In Transport" ... got the VIN and Compliance date.

Its a bit like the last few weeks before a baby is born, except maybe the baby is born because it has a VIN? I'm not sure!

Yes, I will see how accurate their"tracking "system is shortly. Went into my dealer Saturday to get paint code to have bar colour coded, within a minute , he had a "tracking"printout done for me. Says "Continental Highway"(big ship), docked monday 31/2/11 and to dealer 15/3/11. Have painted bar ready,, hope car is to

This is it, light the lights. In about 12 hours I won't have to be the poor sad bugger sneaking in at midnight to log onto the 2010 Prado review site to scroll through the 34 shots of the Prado 150 GXl Manual Petrol. I could always pretend it wasn't me as mine is a d4d. You wouldn't believe how many times I've tried to figure ut how those seats fold out of the way to give kerbside access. I saw one in downtown Port Macquarie last night and thought I was going to get busted for car theft or cop one in the ear for drooling down the sides of the window as I peered in and tried to make sense. The sad secret is out now but I can handle it and don't think I'll need counselling or CPR.

My vehicle just went from "Being prepared for transportation / shipping yard" .. to "Dealer Preparing for Delivery" .. the last step. I'm hoping I might even have it by the weekend. Fingers crossed. Better organise a bank cheque

My thoughts on the tracking system accuracy is that it needs more information up front around the manufacturing / shipping. Mine sat there for weeks with no status change, which is effectively no status. I would hope to think that if the vehicle was docked in the eastern states and trucked West (or vice versa) that the tracking system would show when its in transport, as opposed to mine skipping that. I'm in Canberra so if it offloaded in Sydney, I can understand that not being tracked. Anywhere it should be. Better than ringing the dealer every 10 minutes.

I found the tracking system great as a novelty thing and a distraction from the endless wait. Accuracy seemed ok (how do you know it is where it is though and does it matter as long as it gets here). I was surprised at how quickly it got from the holding yard to the dealer. I thought the cars were all offloaded in South Oz but informed by the dealer it is Woolongong. The only error was the actual pick up date for me from dealer. I took my 120 up one day expecting to go back and pick up the newby next day as per tracker. However today is the day. I have a theory that the loaner from the dealer while awaiting pick up always has to be such a crap vehicle that when you finally take it back and get your new car, it seems umpteen times better because you have had 4 days in a crap box. Truth is though I have found Kempsey Toyota a fantastic dealership and I've purchased 3 new Hilux' and this is the second Prado, from them and they have always treated myself and vehicle in such a positive way that I keep returning. I did go to another dealer for the Hilux before the first Prado and while $1000 cheaper, 30 km closer, much bigger dealership, I returned to Kempsey. I think it makes a huge difference to the overall enjoyment of any type of new vehicle when the service is 'fair dinkum' and they are approachable. That's not a bad add eh, but not only stemming from the fact I just got a call to pick it up at 1pm, it is an important issue for me.
I really hope you get yours for the weekend benjl. Boys & toys! My wife still can't understand why I get so excited about a new car. I thought she might have caught some of the fever after 42 years, but she is more than happy driving her little Getz. Although very enthusiastic about the comfort of a Prado on a trip or when we look like being stuck in some creek crossing or rounding a corner after a picnic to whoopwhoop to find Forestry has been logging and tracks have turned to mush. Ain't it grand.

Nothing much to track now. Japanese car factories are closing down after the earthquakes and tsunamis.

Prado's are probably going to be hard to get.

mines on order and was told yesterday sometime in April...so will have to wait n see. Looks like the old 120 will have to suffice until then.
