  • Front Camera (Kakadu) - Relocation for NudgeBar or BullBar

I have been looking into how I can relocate the front Camera to be mounted on the front NudgeBar or in some people's cases their bullbar. Has anyone successfully or know if it is easy to remove the existing camera and relocate it so don't get any interference with the nudge bar or bull bars that are out in the market.

I have seen one of the boys on the forum created their own little housing to fit their ARB Bar, but I am hoping to mount the camera directly into the nudgebar or bulbar.
I have heard of Toyota coming up with something, but I won't hold my breath.

    Cheers

This shows you the difference in what you see with a bull bar and without a bull bar, with spotties and without spotties. you dont really loose that much... i didnt bother relocating my camera

Re: Front Camera (Kakadu) - Relocation for NudgeBar or BullBar

I asked at Toyota 12 months ago and was told they are working on a mod kit, but still hasn't happened. All I see now is the back of my spot lights so the camera is useless in its current position.

I have tried relocating the camera to the front of my ARB bar but the wire/cable is too short so you have to make up an extension. Wouldn't you know it the plug type is a specialised one that i haven't been able to source.

If any one has a solution I would love to see it.

Kaymar have a relocation kit for the reversing camera which I have on mine. You might be able to explore that option perhaps.

Do you have any details on this kit as I can't find any details on the Kaymar web site???

Part number is K6093-KIT $100 from ARB. I'm not sure if the is an ARB or Kaymar part number. Will try to remember to grab photos in the morning.

Google the part number and the first result is a PDF file.

                      Hi All,

Sorry to dig up an old thread but this one is the most appropriate. I recently began my Kakadu's front camera relocation. Took me an hour or two. I have cut and extended (by around 30cm) the cable at the rear of the camera. I'll attach a heap of images which will easily tell the story. The camera is now sitting inside the front bar's grill - just above my number plate. From inside I can just see the (factory) bar uprights either side which means the field of view angle must be around 170+ degrees. Image quality is OK-ish and certainly better than looking at the back of my LED light bar.

May take a few posts to get all the pics uploaded.

I just cut and spliced a very similar type of cable into it which I had in the shed. The original cable is screened too and has three other cores (red, black, white and the screen wire) - the screen wire has a copper cladding too. I just extended the cable using my soldering iron and some heatshrink. Came up looking OK.

I firstly removed the large plastic engine/radiator cover as well and the grill. Both come out very easily. This made for easy access to the camera's plug. The camera sits in a bracket which in turn is clipped into the grill. I clipped this bracket back into the grill once I had removed the camera.
