any decent exhaust shop should be able to make you up a custom system, as d4d said some companies do kit form like beaudesert exhausts, but 1 thing to remember is if you are going to do a dump as well (ie off the back of the turbo) put a flex joint in or it you will increase your chances of the pipe cracking behind the turbo, just tell them what you are after a quiet well flowing exhaust, and if you are not happy when you pick it up after its done change the mufflers until you are happy with the sound. cheers samo

I had a Beaudesert Exhaust fitted to our 150 VX D4D 19,000 k's ago, car is smoother and performs better, particularly when towing.

No noticeable increase in noise inside or out.

No noticeable improvement in fuel economy either but I believe it's worth it for the performance.

What sort of dollars did you pay for that BNEGXL if you don't mind me asking?

From memory it's about 1400 for a steel and 2100 for stainless steel, this is from a quote months ago...

              Daniel,

From memory, $1,350 drive in drive out, it's "aluminised mild steel". Their web site explains what that is.

It had been fitted not long before I picked up the rear rubber mat from you,

I'm on Bris South Side, PM me if you want to give it a try

If you want quiet and 3 inch then Manta is amongst the best. Not cheap but cheaper than the unusual prices people are posting on this thread!

Fitted the 3" Manta stainless exhaust. From memory it was $1850 and comes with a 10 year warranty as well. Very happy with the system too.

                      Darecki,

The exhaust smoothed the engine a bit across the rev range, significantly better at 1,500 rpm and even a little less lag at 2,400 rpm, but the lag is still there. (I suspect the remaining lag is due to the auto)

It holds gears better on hills at highway speeds, tows our fairly heavy boat much easier and overtaking acceleration is hugely improved. I thought the car with the stock exhaust was a real slug when trying to overtake, now accelerating from 80 up to as high as 140 is much better. To keep things in context, it's no GT Falcon, just a strong performing 4wd.

In a nut shell, engine feels smoother, quieter, pulls better under load and overtaking acceleration is much better. I'm not sure that it accelerates any better from a standing start though, probably needs the turbo to spool up before any real gain.

Beau Exhausts claim a 10% increase in torque across the rev range, I haven't seen any dyno sheets so I can't confirm.

I am very happy with the results. If I bought another Prado I would do the exhaust again, I wouldn't necessarily go Beau Exhaust, looking at the systems they are pretty low tech and other than build quality I think they would all be much the same, it is for a low revving turbo engine, the science is nothing like a a set of extractors and system for a high reving non turbo.

For me it's about, build quality, convenience and price and at the time Beau Exhaust ticked the boxes.

                      Hope that helps,

                      Greg
