Love your work Goodie. I like how you have the tie downs neatly coming through the base. 2 questions, how will you secure the unit from bouncing over the rough stuff? and how fiddly is it to and thread/line up the tie downs into these slots when installing? or is it to be a permanent fixture?Originally posted by Goodwinfamily View Post
sorry, thats 3 questions.

Hi Craig
Some people have used pins like those that secure the towbar bolt (The ones that you always seem to bang your fingers when pulling out) I used of all things gate bolts as in the old turn to the side and push across.
I felt that because the tie downs push through a fair way you needed something that would hold in place firmly. I will take some photos. Remember there will also be a fair amount of weight on the unit as well.
Can be a little fiddly but I drop the rear ones over first and then the front ones.
will probably leave it in the vehicle most of the time it depends on what the minister of war and finance says.

Great job ,looks like its off to bunnings , thanks for the info on how to make it. One thing I do when have fridge in back of car is turn the child lock on the rear door so if they smash the glass to try and get your fridge they cant open the door from the inside , cheers DiggerWhite GXL 150 TD , Black King Rims with BFG , 40 l Engal, Thumper power supply, Tracklander roof racks,Maxx Tracs , Icom ic440, Redex Brake Controller, Factory towbar, Sidewinder trailer charging system, Rock Tamer Mudflaps and Hema Navigator.Camprite TL8S

Hi Goodie
I cut it out my ply floor the same as you did where the factory tie downs are to hold ply in place. Made up clips to fit onto the tiedown and T nuts underneath the ply to bolt clips and slide.
check out my old post Re shape of clips.

Adding the Waeco Coolpower to the setup
Hi all
Have added a Waeco Coolpower Raps-36 unit.
I dont need a full dual battery system at this time so decided on the Raps-36 as it represented best value for money.
Just a note before the photos this is running an Engel eclipse but you CANNOT plug the engel straight into the Raps-36 unit....it just doesnt work. You have to plug in a double/triple adaptor or an extension lead or the fridge simply wont work. I think it may have something to do with the thermal fuse in the engel plug.
Now on to the build or in this case the cut.......Last edited by Goodwinfamily; 04-12-2011, 11:33 AM.
