  • Power & a Compresser to the Fridgeslide

    Hi

Next part of the project moving on from the construction of the fridge slide is to add power and re-charging so a simple extension cord when parked will allow for powering the fridge and recharging the Raps battery.........

Also decided o fit the compressor permanently in a void behind the fridge to save some carry space....

the photos tell the story........any ideas or problems you see let me know......

First is a simple $2.99 Ebay purchase of a multiple 12v point

After this is a $4.99 Ebay battery monitor

The general idea then is to add a 12v charger to the unit that will be attached to a powerboard to enable the fridge to run and the battery to be charged off 240v when parked....

The charger is a Projecta model $49.95 off Ebay it is side mounted on the shelve and has a simple red no green yes light for when the battery is charged.........

Fitted in place ready to be connected to the short (1m double head) 240v extension cord......

2 point fitted....there is room for more but with the double on the plug I went for only having to use one plug with the ability to use the other if required...for I have no idea what...but its there anyway.........

And now with the power in place I used the void underneath the fridgeslide for cable and cord storage as the way it is designed allows the cables and cords to not interfere with the slide.......

      Now on to the Compressor....
This has as much to do with storage as ease of use. I have ensured the following...
      1. The position allows for me to slide the seats forward and access all tyres
      2. The position of the unit allows for air flow to prevent fire hazard or marking items through heat.
      3. The base plate has been removed and 6 rubber feet added with the unit bolted from below to the unit.....

and a bit closer prior to final fit......

The hose sits in the rear storage area on the back door along with sand pegs and straps.

Power has been achived by removing the clips and adding a 12v plug that will go straight into the middle console pug and is run under the seats and sandgrabbers to just plug and go......

The whole unt fitted is a bit like a duck on a pond....all serene on top of the water with a million things going on underneath.

        and a few other shots....

The unit is neat and usable with all the cords and cables zipped up and secured so as to stay out of the way.
        The powerpac with chargers fitted....

And the final unit ready to go....

The entire unit can simply be unclipped and removed from the rear of the prado in about 5 minutes with the same time to put it back in.....it hasnt come out yet other than for mods as it is simply too handy to have in........
        Thanks for watching...........
