ARB Compressor Install in my 150 Diesel - Custom Bracket

I wasn't happy with the way ARB were going to just bolt my compressor to the top of the wheel arch at a weird angle to decided to fabricate a custom bracket for the compressor.

The goal of this bracket was firstly for the aesthetics and secondly I didn't want any holes drilled in the wheel arch so after a little head scratching I knocked up this bracket utilising the existing holes in the wheel arch.

The bracket was made from 2mm sheet aluminium I got from Bunnings and some other odds and sods of aluminium just in case.
I got hold of a butane blow torch and some aluminium soldering rod also from Bunnings.



I made a cardboard template and began to solder / cut / drill & file until I was happy.

The photo below shows the holes I used that were already in the wheel arch



The photo below shows the compressor fitted to the bracket.

I fitted some rubber between the bracket and the mount to keep some of the vibration down.



Fitted and ready to wire.

Was a bit of an experiment. Takes a while getting the joint up to temperature as the rest of the bracket sucks up the heat.

I've re-enforced a few joints with nuts and bolts as I'm not too sure how strong it will be. I gave the joints (before putting some nuts and bolts though) a good pull and poke and they seem real strong.

Just going to spray it black today to finish it off.

It was only a few hours work. Trouble is doing it in 35DegC heat was not much fun.

I looked at the drivers side but decided against it. I see in another thread (see below) that someone has made a bracket for the drivers side. Not sure if he's still selling them.

I've got a plate for the drivers side that the Piranha big red compressor fits in to.
This is the plate here

It's a snug fit, but there is just enough space for it to squeeze in to. The only thing I had to do was get an elbow piece for the hose to connect on to as there wasn't enough space between the outlet and the firewall. End result here

That one is for the passenger's side, in exactly the same spot as what you have done. Brackets are still ongoing and perfecting it as I go.

There is pages on this topic you could look for hours. I made an ARB twin head fit in mine on drivers side, bit tight but works a treat!

VeeZeeSS, easily done, using existing mounting points in the right hand inner guard. No drilling and every solid. Made mine out of some leftover 2mm stainless steel I had laying around from when I built my camper trailer. One of the bolts was a bit fiddly to reach but was easy enough.
