My son built his own 3D printer and has written his own software to run it. In the end he ran out of things to print.

Very cool! Have been toying with the idea of buying a 3D printer for a while now, would be perfect for making small brackets to hold cables, wiring, etc either inside the vehicle or in the engine bay.

FYI - A number of premium CAD software providers offer their products for free on a trial basis for several years. Just search "free CAD software".

I'm sure I'll find something else....

Now that is one cool piece of kit, would be very handy to replace busted motorbike parts as well.

I got my son an RC remote control car for Christmas. Its a FJ Cruiser. They didn't have any Prados.

He wanted some recovery gear to help him get un-bogged.

              Bracket in Stainless

My 3d printed bracket and its stainless steel sibling. Fits perfect. Just need to organise some fittings and hose.

                      Hey Tin,

I've also ordered a racor fuel filter. Any chance of costing up another bracket?

Can one print a shape that is hollow on the inside, a model house for example?

Yes but it will have a space frame inside to support the roof as it is printed. Cut the excess off/out when you are done. Sometimes the temporary frame is more substantial than what you are printing.

Cool, small ones would make great key rings or even rear view mirror decorations.

Did you get the stainless steel version 3D printed?
There are a number of web sites that will let you upload a file and then they'll send you the output. The list of materials they can print with these days is pretty impressive.

                              eg: https://i.materialise.com/materials

No, The stainless steel one is laser cut and pressed. Would love to have a metal printer one day.
