The Prado only has a Towing Capacity rating of 2500kgs. I'm in the market for an off-road van and most weigh closer to 3000kg. I've heard that other vehicles have had modifications made to increase the legal towing capacity. Does anyone have any information regarding how to do this ?

One truck running around here with a GVM of 23 tonne tows a trailer that is legal at 39.5 tonne, it's a dog trailer as well so no drawbar weight on the truck!

2 tonne would also be the lightest Prado in the world, most would be nudging 3 tonne with a couple of people in them, fuel, maybe a bullbar and a bit of gear.
