  • Rear Drawers

    I have purchased a 2016 GXL 2.8 diesel - awaiting delivery.

I am considering fitting a rear drawer set and may be able to get some second hand.

I have also noticed that some Prado cargo mats are advertised "fits 09-13" models. This would sort of imply that there may have been change to the rear layout after this.

Is that so, or will any 150 draw set fit a GXL?

I am pretty sure a set made for a GX would not fit due to side moulding for 3rd row of seats on GXL

    Thanks

Look up drifta drawers. Half the price of a lot of brands, half the weight too. The guys there will custom build them to the measurements you supply.

            Buy them then.

This is your second post about Drifta being a rip off. You've made your point. Move on

The standard 150 drawers are AU$1590. Or NZ$1740. You're being asked to pay a dealer markup. Or maybe just the AU-NZ freight charges?

              Hi Folks,

Has anyone used these Drifta drawers ? I'm intrigued to find out how they mount the drawers, i.e do they use existing mounting locations on the car ?

Hi Rob I have a 120 but i assume the fixing would be similar. The front has 2 bolts with a spacer that screw into existing threads & the drawers slide in & locate. This is tge one I bent & replaced with high tensile
The rear uses a turnbuckle each side that hooks on to an existing tie down. 5 mins to removevor install. Very easy & light to lift out once the drawers have been removed
                Cheers Matt

Thanks Matt seems like a very practical solution, my old storage system was an hours job to remove.

The 150 has a different rear seat set up to the 120's. I think the Drifta drawers use a false floor to fill the gap after the rear seats have been taken out. Which may not be what you are after? Best to call or email them and find out.

I'm not saying Drifta are a rip-off. Their products seem to be well reviewed and well designed. I'm saying the NZ dealer is a rip-off. Drifta quoted me direct about NZ$1600 plus my own freight cost. It doesn't cost $800 to freight them by sea. And the NZ dealer still wanted freight on top of their elevated price.

Sure sounds like the stealer would like to rip you off. Just like apple and many other big names in both our countries down under.
