Fitted so far:-Toyota Alloy bar,Redarc BDCD1220 battery managment system and dual power outlet,tracklander full length rack and ladder,Milford cargo barrier,Kaon transmission guard, UVP& Lower Shock mount Guards,Dobinson/Bilstein suspension,Toyota Bonnet and headlight guards,39ltr engel and an opposite lock stubby holder (from the old '80' series),Polyair Airbags,Pradopoint sticker,Gonefishin' custom Sidesteps.

Update on Tin's stone guards on our 120 after the Flinders trip.
We were driving up in the northern Flinders and there were a lot of rocks on the roads, could hear them rattling around under the Prado.
When we got home, I noticed that the wheel weights on the inner of the wheels have been scraped by the guards:
There is not enough clearance between the guard and the wheel.
The impact of the rocks on the guards has dented them out some, the denting has probably made it closer to the wheel rim than when first installed:
Will probably cut them to give more clearance. You can see the area I'm thinking of cutting has very little stone marks anyway.

yes i had to do the same to mine when we first went to Mt Dare
started hearing a ting ting ting at wheel speed
but great news is the shafts have NO damage from the thousands of rocks that's been thrown at them !!2008 Dune D4D manual GXL update - with lots of fruit !! + Roma Razorback Off Road Van

I finally managed to get some photos of shock protectors a talented mechanic/engineer mate of mine has used for years.
As background, he spends much of his time building rally cars for serious competitors in variety bash type rallies. These are not factory supported late model EVO type vehicles, they are 20+yr old Holdens Fords, etc. that see some pretty harsh treatment. His own XW Falcon has completed every stage of every rally for the last 29yrs, including one of the few unassisted 2WD crossings of the Simpson (he never attached a snatch strap to it all trip). It is a work of engineering art and has already been acquired by a local transport museum when (if) he retires it.
Anyway, in his experience he has seen shocks literally sawn in half by rocks due prolonged high speed on gibber roads. He tried metal guards long, long ago but all succumbed to the pounding of rocks, as has been witnessed on the ones mentioned here; all ended up being bent back onto the shock eventually, then being pounded into the tube with the end result that they did nothing but transfer the beating to the shock . This was his solution. The material is heavy duty conveyor belt rubber bolted onto brackets in a "U" shape to allow some flex and rebound. These have to be custom fitted, either to brackets welded or otherwise attached to either the diff or shock mounts etc. His "testing" of a fitout consists of smacking the cover with a 6lb club hammer. This approximates a reasonable sized gibber hitting at high speed. If the rubber deflects but doesn't hit the tube, all's good. His other tip is to sand and repaint the shocks flat black for better heat dissipation (on the downside, you lose the bling, but it depends whether you want show or go!) He has had the same guards on for many years now, the ones shown have been on his Rangie (easier to get under for photos!) for probably 10yrs, but as you see they don't get bent up and buggered!
Just some (proven) ideas for the DIY types out there!

Nolathane or urethane sheet works better than conveyor belt rubber. Or HDPE or Nylon plastic sheet (4-6mm).
We use it as underbodies on the rally cars I'm involved with. This survives a fair bit of what we throw at them.. rocks at >220 kmh on gravel eat thru pretty well anything in time.
Alloy, steel, plastic, rubber you name it.
I recall a rock literally coming thru the floor on one of the Factory supported Honda Jazz rally cars... took out 2 layers of underbody and then the floor pan.....💥
I've got urethane shock protectors on my 120. Lasted fine.

Rear Stone Guards for Ironman Shocks
I've been asked to revise the design to provide more clearance for the massive Ironman rear shocks. I've made up a couple of sets for the 120 and 150.
I have test fitted to a set of new shocks that have just come back from a trip to the Simpson. They cop a bit of damage.
If there is enough interest I'll make a few more.
