  • Cooler box in Kakado, retrofit???

    Hi all,

I am waiting for a VX to arrive next year and was thinking of mods besides the obvious bar work,.

Has anyone here fitted a Cooler box to thier lower spec Prado, I have all the AC gear, evac and gas etc. so a fit up shouldnt be too hard, but is it worth the effort. how well do the cooler boxes work?

    Ideas?

buy a 30l waeco and throw it in the back, save you a lot of work and time.
had an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

If it's anything like the 120 (and you's assume it would be or worse) then the cost of buying the parts from Toyota is going to knock your socks off...

I wasnt thinking of buying th parts rom tojo, more using the harness and fittings in the a/c to allowme to fit something up, I can manufacture a core, but I need to know is it worth it, how cold will it keep the contents, I have 3 young 5-12-14 kids who drink water all trip and moan when its hot, and who can blame them, so on a 2-3 hour trip, load up with 6-8 cold cans, will they stilll be cold after an hour or two, or as sugested should I buy a new fridge and fit up in the rear. I have a waeco 50 which likes on my Cruiser ute, but a new stainless job would be good for the VX, I just feel they may be a target for thieving bastards and when its just mummy and me, who is climbing back for cool drinks?

Small 6 pack esky with some ice? Works a treat for us even though a 40l engle lives in the boot
Leaves us the centre console for all our "stuff"

No idea if it's worth it $$ wise, but I gotta say it does keep the drinks perfectly cold on a hot day......amd much easier/safer to use than an esky in the back when on the move .
08 White Grande D4D lifted, Bilsteins, bar , D694LT's and no time to use it properly.
