Phone Holders in 150

Anyone got any really great ways of mounting / resting / holding Phones for the driver ?

I use an iPhone, and like to be able to see and use within reach of driving position easily, but still have'nt come up with ideal answer !

Anyone got any brainstorm ideas here ? :roll:

Hi

I just fitted a Nokia cradle on the right hand side pillar. The cradle/phone sits just above the dash, and is in excellent view and reach. I also had my charger hard wired and it runs up in the same area, so is an easy plug in to charge. This elminates the charger/phone sitting and rattling arounf the console. I will see if I can take a picture and load it up shortly.

PS - it doesn't interfer with the airbag.

Couple of companies put out custom holders.

I have one for my iphone from Proclip for my 120, they look pretty good. I think I saw one for the 150 on their site already;

I have the one that sticks on the WIndscreen, and it charges my Blackberry. When I change phones, I change the cradle only. They are quite expensive, but very good.

Cable is long enoug to run from 12V outlet under the steering column to the RHS and I have my phone next to the steering wheel just above the right vent.

I have one that plugs into the 12v socket in front of the centre console. It has a flexible arm that allows me to position it just behind the gear selector (when in D) and face it towards me.

It's within easy reach and at a quick glance I can see who's calling. I know it's a look down from the road, but even a windscreen mounted one requires you take your eyes off the road so can't see any difference.

The advantage is that it has an iPhone docking cradle which charges the phone as I drive.

i got one form autobarn that can be attached to the air vent, windscreen, dash or pro mount behind panelling. i decided to attach mine to the dash as below. beauty about having it here is that i can control ipod and look up phone book, etc without having to take my eyes away from the road too much (not that i would do this while driving :wink: ) I was concerned that the charge cable would get in the way, but it runs down and along the floor next to the seat quite neatly, so it doesn't interfere with my leg.

+1 for the holdmyphone option. I was going to buy one of the vent backing mounts as an alternative for my UHF handset.

how have you actually attached this to the dash? - i can't see screws, it is double-sided tape?

hi dan,

yes it is double sided tape. the tape that came with the holder didn't do the job, so the guys at autobarn used their own tape.

G'day guys i have installed the Iphone cradle from BURY system 9 - and its connected through the Kenwood DVD stereo i had installed as well. Works REALLY well!! the cradle only charges and makes use of the external aerial the phone still connects via bluetooth. pic below

OHHH and by the way the stereo is now up the top instead of down the bottom. there is a new conversion kit to do this... You lose that pathethic little screen from up the top - but all that info is in the centre dash anyway between the spedo and tacho. and the camera now runs through the Kenwood unit instead! Much better view + i added a second camera that is directly above the towball.

G'day Louie,

the audio controls still work same as normal - however the telephone controls do not work which does not worry me because when the phone rings the is 2 big pictures of a green phone and a red phone that come up on the stereo screen - you push either of them to answer or hang up / divert the call.

all your phone book is also stored in the stereo so you never have to touch the phone once its in the cradle if you don't want to.
i think the voice activation button still works on the steering wheel - but the iphone is hopeless at recognising the words i say. only due to the number of close matches in the phone. i have 642 contacts so it would be doing well to recognise the exact match!!
