I did this small modification today as the GPS power cord was driving me mad.
I used the interior light power supply to power a cigar socket mounted in the sun-glass hatch.
I used our standard cigar bullet socket for this.

To remove the interior lamp assembly grab it at the front closest to the mirror and pull downwards, it is held in with 4 standard studs and 3 rear fingers.

I used the red power wire on the main harness and tapped and soldered into this, my earth was obtained from a M6 body bolt in the roof lining.

I drilled a hole in the sun-glass cavity to pass the new wires through and also pass the GPS connector out and through the front of the roof lining behind the mirror.
I then connected it all up, rolled up the excess and now I don't have a wire dangling from the GPS.
