Hi all, we want to install a simple, non permanent, wood sleeping platform in our new Prado to sleep in when weather is bad. We are wondering if you can recommend anyone in Canberra or Queanbeyan who could do this for us?
We are thinking of a platform on a frame, inside the wheel casings, with piano hinges or the like so the section that sits over the rear seats can be folded back on itself to allow rear setas to be used and 1 or 2 other sections towards the rear door would also be hinged so they can fold back to allow taller cargo when bed not in use. Removable legs to sit on rubber mats on floor between front passenger setas and folded down rear passenger seats. Structure needs to be sturdy enough for 160 kg weight load.
Need a way to secure to inside of car while driving - we are thinking of using straps and the tie down points.
Will store cargo and hopefully a small fridge under the platform so platform needs to be around 380-400mm off floor.
Has anyone done something similar with the latest GX Prado, any hints and in particular any suggested people/ businesses whom we can pay to do this for us in Canberra area?
Thank you.
Jenny G
