    Removing roof lining

    Has anyone had to drop their roof lining? I am fitting a roof mounted dvd and interested if there are any tricks to drop the roof lining a bit so I can install a base plate for the dvd player. Any issues with the airbags? Love to hear you experience.

    I only just got my GXL D4 delivered last night after a three month wait and I am keen to install the DVD before we head to Flinders on Sat.

    the easiest way i found was AUTOBARN..

      I also like the idea of central unit as the kid in the middle doesn't miss out!

      How did you go...any traps for young players? Very keen to see some images if you have some please.

      Also what brand did you go with in the end and how's the display quality?

        i went with the 10" Pioneer, awesome unit and looks good(it was in my 120) and have ordered the same for my 150,, kids like it and easy to see

          How'd the install go? Just bought a 15" roof mounted player and am dreading the installation. May be a job for autobarn or someone similar.

            You shouldnt need to drop the entire roof lining to fit a roof mount DVD Screen. Once you remove the center interior light, you'll see a roof cross beam slightly forward of the hole, use a sharp stanley knife to enlarge the hole to the size required for the mounting plate and screw it to the cross beam. If you want the screen to sit back a little further, then cut the hole out to size and Sikaflex a suitable peice of 18mm MDF to the roof. After 24 hours drying time, screw the moutning plate to the MDF and mount the screen.

            By leaving the roof lining in place it gives you a point of reference to make sure everything is centered and square.

              Hey VX Westy,
              I haven't received the DVD player and kit yet, but the interior light in the 150 is set along way back from where the interior light was in the old 120. The light in the 120 was between the driver seats where the light in the 150 is set back somewhere above the second row seats......
