  • Alloy bullbar and 9 inch driving lights - radar interference?

    Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience with either the ARB alloy bull bar, or Toyota brand, paired with 9inch driving lights (ie Bushranger VLCs), and interference with the radar cruise control?

looking at getting a bar and lights for my Kakadu, don’t want to go steel because suspension upgrade and risks of KDSS lean, so hence alloy.

    cheers, Beanu

I have an ARB Smart Bar with 220mm diameter driving lights mounted on the outer fitting of the bar platform on my 20231 GXL, no problem with the lights. ARB are aware of it and in their detailed spec sheet they specified the distance either side of the centre logo camera which needs to be free of obstructions. You should be able to do the calculations from their detailed spec sheet available on line.

Awesome, thank you, I'll have a look and see what I can find. By the way, how do you find the smart bar? I'm also considering one to save weight. Even better if they take lights well.

I am a fan of them for the weight reason, most seem to think they are ugly, but I'm a function over style person This is my third smart bar in 15 years. I've hit up to mid sized roos with them and they have done their job. There are a few posts here if you search, I understand they come in winch or non winch versions. If you want a bar for animal strike protection you either get steel or plastic, forget Aluminum.
