  • How to disassembly central channel?

    Hi there,

I decided to replace original connections to the 12V lighter sockets close to the gear stick and on rear console. Obviously I have to disassembly this part. Any hints guys?
Haven't found any photo or even a description BTW - does anyone have an idea where to install Anderson plug to have it close to front sits?

    Hi Darecki
Here is the address for the Toyota-Tech site http://www.toyota-tech.eu/legacy/Toy/ai ... _826_0.pdf
It is actually showing how to install navigation but you can see how and where the clips are for the panels on top of the console (you have to scroll down a bit). You wouldn't have to pull the radio out just start with the 2 side panels. I have wired from the rear power myself and you just have to get hold of it and give it a decent pull to release the clips.
To put an anderson plug to the front I would run it from behind the cig plug or from the 2nd battery (through the firewall, behind the glovebox and through the console while you have it apart) then run along the side of the console and let it come out next to your seat. Then the plug can sit under there for when you need it out of the way and hidden when you don't need it.

Thanx for this link. Have you seen any chassis suitable for ground connection anywhere around the gear stick or cig plug?

if you are running a wire from a battery, i'd suggest running twin core and pick up the negative straight from the battery not from a earth point near the socket.

I agree with Dan, any high current connection needing an Anderson plug requires a negative connection from the battery, earthing to the chassis in this situation will only end in tears and grief.

I Agree too :P However, in some situations the body or another grounding can be as good as the battery. Say, engine's body is good for grounding.
I will have two batteries and I will flip this connections depending on situation. I can't see it much usefull if I connect "-" to, say, aux battery when I draw current from cranking one. Yes, I know, I should connect those two on "-" as well but this way I will endup with 25mm2 wires everywhere and it doesn't make much sense to me.
It is rather the question if I can find a proper grounding around (well, maybe not exactly within this channel yet, say, on firewall) or I should rather give up and simply don't draw this much.

I bought some stuff to start building this up. I'll run 50A to measure resistance from groundings I hopefully will find. Will se how bad it will be.
