Well that's all great and all but doesn't answer my question. Do you have a chip or genuine plans for (not the vapour ware that I heard previously) for the 1KZ 120?Originally posted by Chip It View PostWell, interestingly enough, we have a renewed interest. We do in fact have a 100 series chip now but not with a change of tunes like our common rail chip. Still gives better than the any chip we have tested and still has EGT control. But a new board with changeable tunes may be evident soon. The existing chip for the 100 series uses, as part of the system, the standard common rail chip so if/when you upgrade to a common rail vehicle you already have a chip ready to go. Our goal is to allow people to only ever buy 1 chip from us and take it with them for any future vehicle they buy ... until we go to rocket power anywayLast edited by Schaffer; 23-05-2011, 09:07 PM.Nick

Hmm, 2 forums, made you laugh twice. You better look out for my order in a few weeks time via Greg in SA and ensure the discount is processed or I will have to omit to name your chip when the rig is featured in 4wd ActionOriginally posted by Chip It View Postyou guys are crackin' me up.

I can read Rob. very clearly. You have failed to answer the question that I asked. I was quite keen mid last year as I had heard great things about the Chip It chip from a friend. I spoke to you guys and emailed and had promices that an engineer was working on a chip. Then found out nothing was happening.Originally posted by Chip It View PostDid you read the post at all??? second sentance answers your question Schaffer.

Yep, as I mentioned, we do have a performance module ... but we are looking to improve it. One is available now if you wish. Still goes well. But we like to make a good thing great. The current chip does not allow custom tuning, however the EGT control and the Boost control still are available

So if I was to purchase a Chip It chip for the 1KZ then would it be a simple matter of a fireware upgrade to the newer version when this comes out or would it be different hardware. in the case that it is more than a fireware upgarde when are you looking (roughly) at releasing the new chip? There is no details on the website about the chip for the 1KZ. You do for the 1KD (D4D). Any perfor, ance details to show?Originally posted by Chip It View PostYep, as I mentioned, we do have a performance module ... but we are looking to improve it. One is available now if you wish. Just a note from the Brisbane 4wd show. The steinbauer rep told me there chip will not work when in cruise control as the unit needs a input from the thottle pedal. This for me was no good as i want the unit to work on cruise.

FYI guys,Originally posted by Silvo View PostSorry to confirm, the steinbauer won't work on cruise in the 150 D4D prado ?
The Steinbauer does have the ability to run when under cruise control, this is simply done by requesting it to do so when you order the module.
This is achieved by measuring different signals which still operate under cruise control, normally the Steinbauer module is activated via the TPS.
The reason this is not standard procedure is because there are too many different variations between individual vehicles and the most accurate way
to activate the box is via TPS.
This is not a issue as under normal cruise conditions you will find the vehicle is under such minimal load that no additional inputs are required from the Steinbauer as they
would be so minimal you would not even notice any changes.
In regards to Cruise when towing, most manufactures do not recommend this operation so it in this situation is not really relevant as you find
when towing and you are about to overtake or approach an incline you will adjust yourself using the pedal thus activating the module.

Hi Giles. Please don't take any of this personally but that makes no sense to me at all. I don't drive on perfectly flat ground and I want my chip (no matter what the brand) to work 100% of the time, especially on long hauls towing a camper or trailer when the fuel saving benefits are maximised. To then have to order the ability for that as it is done using an alternative process just makes me sit up a little (not much, just a little lol).Originally posted by Giles View PostFYI guys,

Even in dead flat Adelaide I suspect a chip would be working and over time even the smalliest benefits would add up. I use cruise control for the majority of country driving and reality is you are going up or down most of the time.
Finally, please identify where in my prado manual where I am recommended not to use my cruise control if towing? Not doubting it, just dont recall that. I would probably choose to ignore it but at least be concious of my decision and therefore alert to a potential self assessed risk I was taking. If it is in any manufacturers manual or policy statements etc then its just another protection mechanism for them like the dont fit a bullbar, dont allow a nagging wife in the passenger seat, dont fit an after market globe as it voids your warrenty type matters.
PS For the record I am a chip-It convert, but that doesn't mean they are the best. It does mean that I believe their product best suits me and to date have had all expectations exceeded from this chip. To be fare, I know others such as Joey loves his Stein and swears by it so please again don't take the questions personally or interpret them the wrong way.Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!
