Just need some advice. Tow a 2000kg offroad caravan with 200KG on the towball. The prado sags in the back and wallows going around corners, but the stering is not light as using weight distribution hitch which we dont want to use especially off road. Have an ARB bullbar, 2nd battery and plan for a winch later on. Dont really want a lift kit. Do l go with a suspension and spring upgrade or just poly airbags. Still using the original tyres.

Re: CAR WALLOWS
An airbag will give u the option to adjust, where as the spring is there all the time, could cause hard ride when unladen. I would go the airbag option.Originally posted by pjperryJust need some advice. Tow a 2000kg offroad caravan with 200KG on the towball. Re: CAR WALLOWS
You're towing decent weight there, go suspension for strength. (..and a little bit of lift might come in handy one day)glen_ep - engineered, 4" lift, 33" 255/85R16, lockers, 4.88 ratios www.pradopoint.com.au/showthread.php?17237 www.youtube.com/user/glenep www.fb.com/groups/ToyotaPrado90

Re: CAR WALLOWS
Just returned with a Goldstream off road van from Melbourne, a bit over 2,000 kg, and over 200 kg on the tow ball (heavier than I thought it would be). Petrol 150 auto GXL.
Had the suspension upgraded to TJM gold series with rear poly air bags, with TJM steel bar, rear drawer system and 2nd battery the main weight extras. Gives the suspension a bit of lift.
The van builder recommended and fitted a 750 pound(350 kg) weight distribution hitch, said the 550 pound job would be a bit light.
Did not take it off road on the return trip to Sydney, but travelled along some winding Victorian roads and the van seemed to handle very well. On the flat Victorian highway, sat around 100 k/h, and the speed would nudge near 110 if I did not keep it in check. Hardly noticed the van was there.
Would not consider towing it on standard suspension.
Yowie.
