That is 100mm higher than mine - HUGE lift.Originally posted by KJA View PostKakadaz
I am absolutely confused. I can't believe the above measurements. It seems the measurements are around 800mm where as mine come in at 870mm and 890mm. If Madmick and Powp have had a 2" lift then mine must be 6"!!!! Can you measure your truck that has not been lifted and give me a basis to work from. I am measuring from the bottom of the wheel rim to the bottom of the wheel arc in a perpendicular. I believed my lift was about 3 to 4". I am now worried about insurance. Do I have to notify the road traffic authority about the lift - is it a modification that needs to be approved?2010 Kakadu, ARB Deluxe Bar, Lightforce HID's, Koni Shocks, King Springs, Safari Snorkel, Twin Battery System, Diff Breathers, GME TX3540 Remote Head UHF, BFG' s; Fourby Fitout drawer system

Are you all measuring from the same point? I would be thinking those with a huge lift might be measuring from the ground,
or the car is not on flat ground when measured?2004 Prado GXL. v6 auto, ARB deluxe bar, exhaust, 2" EFS lift kit, Outback Acc rear bar,

Mine was done from bottom of the rim straight up past the centre cap till it touched the bottom of the guard. Floor was flat in my garage.Originally posted by timmay5.7 View PostAre you all measuring from the same point? I would be thinking those with a huge lift might be measuring from the ground,

That's how I have measured as well. However I made a mistake in my last post. It should read Front 820mm and Rear 870mm. (NOT 870 and 890). Using your unlifted base then that gives me 60mm at the Front and 80mm at the rear. I am much happier with this. The rake at the back is deliberate as I am towing a 2 Tonne caravan and deliberately put up the rear. Looking at the measurements from Powp and Madmick it seems using your numbers then they have only achieved a 1.5" at the front and only 0.5" at the rear!!! The rear seems to be no lift really at all!!!! Thanks again Kaka. I would be interested in you comments. I would like to see a photo of Pwop truck if possible

I believe so. I will make an effort to investigate. I know that the low and high rear still works. I get a decrease of 30mm for the low and uplift of 40mm for the high.Originally posted by KAKADAZ View PostThat seems a bit better mate. Does your self leveling rears still operate?

I wonder if the rear bags then are replaced with longer ones or spacers put under them? I received an email today to say airbag man have no longer bags for the 150 Kakadu.2010 Kakadu with all the usual stuff.... Build up thread below

I don't believe either one has been done. I thought I read in a post 9some else - maybe it was a comment about the 120 Grande) where that the bags at the back were never extended before the lift and that the new high setting just stretches the bags as they were. I don't know whether this puts strain on the bags and should be an issue or not?Originally posted by KAKADAZ View PostI wonder if the rear bags then are replaced with longer ones or spacers put under them? The problem with just stretching them 50-65mm means you loose 50-65mm wheel travel. I would love to have a longer bag or a spacer then could get a longer travel shock and get the extra travel plus extra ground clearance. I know with mine when I go off road with it on the high setting (50mm lift) I get alot more bangen from the back as it runs out of travel and lifts wheels.2010 Kakadu with all the usual stuff.... This does make sense to a novice like me. However this surely would only be an issue when on really corrigated roads. After travelling for 7 days on the CSR with no rear shocks (hired 120 Prado blew the rears and couldn't replace them until warburton)and bouncing around like a bouncy castle I maybe have become used to a little up and down movement!!!!Originally posted by KAKADAZ View PostThe problem with just stretching them 50-65mm means you loose 50-65mm wheel travel. It is only noticeable on deep rutted climbs but could be fixed with a taller bag and longer shock to give best of both worlds.2010 Kakadu with all the usual stuff.... Build up thread below

Ken,
I’m wanting to lift my Kakadu as well. As Mannell Motors did yours almost 3 years ago now what are you longer term thoughts on your lift?
Do you still have the intermittent lean issues or did you find a more permanent solution? The 10mm lean seems quite obvious in your pics from the rear and you indicating it's sometimes 20mm worries me! Do you have any reason to believe the lift actually exaggerated the lean? I measured mine today and indeed it has a 10mm lean as well though I have never noticed it looking at the car.
As Kadadaz refers to above, I also experience the ‘banging’ in the rear with my stock setup when on the ‘high’ setting whilst in rougher terrain when the rear is most likely lifting wheels. Did you experience this & is it worse after your lift?
It seems that Mannell Motors believe there’s no reason to fit longer bags, yet CalOffRoad’s solution when lifting 50mm is that longer bags are definitely required so I’m a bit confused on what to do. I can’t see how the use of longer bags (assuming the same ride height settings) would restore the loss of travel/droop through lifting (and therefore remove any increase in the ‘banging’ through lifting) as surely the bag isn’t the component limiting the droop? Otherwise, is replacing the bags at almost $1000 additional cost for no gain?
Any experiences & explanations much appreciated…
