Ordered my medium tough dog springs and 40mm foam cells today. Getting fitted end of the month. I previously had bilsteins all around in my 120, when I broke my front bilsteins, went to foam cell tough dogs and I reckon the ride was heaps better with the tough dogs..

My two cents and i am spending my money on the dogs.

has any one looked into the fox shocks and king struts etc i here there pricey, was just curious if some one might be able to shed some light on them, i have requested qoutes for both waiting for them to come back by email.

does any PP member have them, are they good, and do they have a ball park figure

originally i was going TD but was thinking off more long term, all deends on price at the end of the day.

      Cheers Scott

Sorry to bump an old thread. Deciding on my suspension upgrade is doing my head in!

The last thing I was is a firm and bumpy ride. Been there done that and I got over it real quick. While I can understand it's going to be firmer due that being the nature of any lift kit, surely there's a well known comfortable option. Similar to one of the previous posters I do around 1000kms a week too but the frequent camping trip and daily "farm" type country driving.

I think I am down to Bilstein shocks and either TD or King coils OR the full tough dog kit... not sure if i want to spend the extra $ for adjustables.

Any thoughts, recent reviews of those who posted in this thread last year?

        Thanks a lot.

vx I had Toughdog adjustables on my 120 for about 4 years. Have to say the ability to tune it 'just right' was nice as was the ability to back off the damping on corrugations and seriously rough stuff. Not a gimmick but it depends whether you need the feature or not. I probably adjusted mine about 10 times in 4 years.

I don't find the Bilstein 5100 series for the front and 5160 series for the rear firm. I got them from the US and I quite like it.

I have been running my TD setup for nearly 12 months now and close to 40000Km Recently came back from a 3 month Kimberly trip towing a 2T van (fully loaded). Springs and shocks worked extremely well, we also towed into Mitchel Falls into the Bungles and if anyone knows it along the Frew River loop running south from Old Policemans Waterhole.
Would go the same setup again.

i've been running the king/bilstein combo for a while now. it is firmer than the stock setup, but makes up for it in handling and has eliminated wallowing. even my wife (who hates anything i do to the car) admits the car is nicer to drive after the kit went on! for me, it is not too firm at all.
