  • Kakadu lift yet again

I've read with interest all of the comments regarding lifting a Kakadu. I have been searching for months for someone that will give a straight answer as to whether they can do it or not, and hit the same walls as you guys. I now have people shying away because of the possibility of computer reactions. Has anyone that has changed shocks had any such repercussions from computer systems such as Traction control etc shutting down? I have found a Bilstein 2" lift package with 2"over Firestone bags and just need to reassure everyone that nothing wierd will happen.

I dont think the traction control as such will have issues but more so the self levelling rear bags and three hardness modes "sports ,normal, comfort" and the KDSS lean....Im keen for you to lift yours though and give me feedback...lol

            Sure.
They do an OME kit that apparently works a treat, as long as the rear bags are set properly.

I have the 150 Kakadu and had the 120 Grande which had almost the exact same suspension set up (minus KDSS) and fitted a Tough Dog adjustable shocks front and rear and replaced the rear airbags with the Airbag kit available from the Airbag Man. This modification didnt change any handling or safety of the Prado in any negative way whatsoever! I will be fitting the same kit on the 150.

The traction control system works off your brake sensors by the way.

Unfortunately airbagman doesn't do bags for the 150 yet.

                          Gents,
I spoke to Giles and Jimmy at Mannel motors yesterday and they assured me there was no need for different bags after the lift. kakadaz as you know I had my Kaka lifted last April and apart from the lean issue I have had no issues at all. Of course I did lose the comfort settings. Why do you believe you have to change the bags?

a 60mm lift with longer travel shocks will put the bag at maybe 100mm extra stretch? If they can handle that then great.
