  • Kakadu Lift - New Product?

    Just found these http://www.4x4superstore.com.au/p/49...es-kakadu.html

Anyone pulled the trigger on a set?

I wonder if this a more bulletproof solution than the washer trick some guys here have supposedly been successful with?

    Anyone.... Bueller.......Bueller.....

These actually look like the 120 series replacement airbags for the Grande produced by The Air Bag Man in Qld. Looks like a bit of modification is required to fit in the Kaka: "The 150 series system only requires slight changes to the upper and lower mounts."

Apparently The Airbag Man has a dedicated Kakadu kit due out soon, I was told they're just waiting on some brackets to be finalised. Maybe worthwhile waiting for that kit to be released and compare the two.

In either case, the "washer trick" you refer to is actually the Airbag Man's way of spacing the brackets to the rear sensors to allow the system to give more lift without the need to touch the apparently delicate and expensive height sensor itself. This is still required to raise the rear suspension, regardless of what airbags are fitted. Simply replacing the Toyota airbags with longer ones won't increase ride height.

I had another look at that website and discovered that the photo of the replacement airbag is actually straight out of The Airbag Man installation instructions for the OA611 kit for the 120 series Grande and not of a Kakadu at all: http://www.4x4superstore.com.au/p/49...es-kakadu.html

Actually the photo isn't even a Grande, it's a prototype fitting on a GXL to replace the conventional steel springs with airbags. Check the bumpstop, it's a GXL style not Grande or Kakadu. Photos of the Riding On Air GXL Prado converted to rear airbag suspension can be seen in this post: http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post172023

RRP is $895, but if you order direct from The Airbag Man in Brisbane I believe a 10% PP discount may still apply
