  • Coil Rite Air Bags

Hi. Would there be anyone that has purchased the above Air Bags from Trucksprings, USA and know their part No. I have emailed them but their reply was that they do not have cross over listings for Australian vehicles. Alternately, would anyone have the internal diameter of the 5 door 150 series rear springs and the height between the lower and upper spring mounts when vehicle is at normal resting height. I do not have the vehicle yet but am getting everything ready for when it arrives. Thanks heaps. Bob (copy of email and reply)

    Bob,

CR 5013 is not available to us in North America. We do have some customers using North American kits. If you could give us the inside dimensions of your coil springs we can see if we have anything available. Unfortunately, Firestone does not provide us with information on vehicles made outside North America.

    Thank you,

Hi again I would go the 4135 kit, the bag has a diam of 4.75" and is 7.5" long . this is also the same for the 120 series, looks like they both use the same springs ,http://www.kingsprings.com.au/catalo..._catalogue.pdf
The raised bag is same diam but 9" long part kit 4107.
    http://www.truckspring.com/products/...ear__4135.aspx
hope this helps , you can buy them here in OZ but at a very inflated price, don't mind someone trying to run a business but 3 times the price is a bit much. As for warranty even if one bursts (Very unlikely ) it will cost next to nothing to post back and get a replacement. Had mine in 4 + years now , been good. Ray

I had had looked at these also but could not work out the part number. Thanks Raydes.

The web site said 'no drilling required'. Does that apply for Prado 150 install?

      thanks

Hi Peter. There will be some drilling required, depending on where you want the air valves. On my 120 Prado I ran the two Air Hoses up through the LH side quarter panel and fitted the air valves out through the plastic inner panel. They were then easily accessed with the back door open. The rear springs had to be removed and the bump stops cut off on the 120 so I presume the 150 would be similar.
Ray, I have emailed Trucksprings to confirm as my 120 only has 180mm between top and bottom spring mounts at rest. This equals 7 inches long so will see what they come up with. Thanks again for your help. Bob.

          Hi toyocrusa,

Raydes is correct with the 4135 number. These fit the American forerunner and fj cruiser as well as our 150 series prados (standard height)

I did the exact exercise a couple of months ago and ordered from truck springs the bags for my Altitude. Got the bags delivered to my door for $140.68 au

It took me a couple of hours to put them in using some excellent instructions that are on this forum. They are for the 120 series, but it is exactly the same for ours.

I made a bracket that bolts to the Anderson plug bracket to hold the valves.

          Good luck with your installation

          Cheers Johno

Sorry I should have been more specific. It was where I air line come out the top of the bag through the top spring support I was wondering about. It is need to be drilled, what size hole is required and how hard is it to drill?

            Thanks

              Peter,
as far as the hole in the bumpstop/spring locator above the spring, you need to cut the bumpstops off and I used a hole saw about 25mm to allow the lines to move through them. It's a bit tricky trying to feed the line between the body and the top of the spring holder on the passenger side thus the need for a larger hole so the lines don't get caught up. It is easy to drill the hole as it is only rubber coated plastic.

It took nearly as long to run the lines as it did to put the bags in.

              Cheers Johno

The Petrol Prado is sold in the States and Canada as a Lexus GX460. Probably still best to get the measurements but that may get the ball rolling. The issue is then whether they sell a softer, cushy ride part for the Lexus market (Toyota's acronym for Luxury in the US: LEX US).

Be careful guys. I bought some a couple of years ago from the same vendor, based on part numbers from this site.

The bags were not suited to my vehicle.
Nothing against the vendor at all.... they supplied the part I requested and delivered very quickly. Just that the info on this board regarding the part # was not correct.

I would double/tripple check if I were you.

Is the 4135 for a standard height suspension (gxl 150 td) or 2" lifted suspension?

                      Hi toyocrusa,

I purchased the Firestone Coil Rite and did a write-up on the P/No and installation a while back (see below link)

Davros , I would be interested which bags or kit you bought. I am 100% certain I have put the correct part numbers on here, I bought them and fitted them to my Prado no problems at all. If you ordered the same part numbers either the wrong parts were in the box or the person fitting them was doing something wrong . Or you are a mate of Airbag man and spreading doubt ,lol

If airbag man calls me a mate then he is a liar! I don't have any friends.

The part # for the bags I ordered was on another thread somewhere on this site. I ordered the bags for standard height suspension. They arrived and had the correct part # on the box. When I attempted to fit them, it was very obvious they were too small in diameter for the standard springs. When fully inflated, they still had a 3/8" air gap around their circumference. I had polyair bags on a previous vehicle, and when inflated, the bags bulged slightly through the coils.
I don't have the bags anymore. I fitted new suspension heavy duty suspension last year, and don't have airbags.

Thanks fellas for all your replies. I have ordered raydes' part no as I have seen a 150 Aussie kit and the bags are 4.75 in dia by 7.5 in long, the same as truck springs. Many thanks again. Bob.
