  • Suspension Lift measurements - Recap

    Hi All,

Since my suspension has been on for a while with all the front weight (Bull Bar, Winch, batteries), thought it might be a good idea's to share lift height against other setup's to see where we all fit in. Maybe even give some idea's for brand changes....

    Note: **Work in Progress**

Measurement: From bottom of rim (because it looks better with the numbers) to top of the wheel arch. (Maybe??)

    Height before Mod's:
    Not Available

    Height after Mod's:
    Suspension/Rim: 2" IronMan lift, 17"
Accessories: TJM Bull Bar, ARB Winch, Dual Batteries

    Outcome:
    Front: TBC
    Rear TBC

Hopefully we can get some good comparisons in here..

    Bernie.

where do you take the measurement from?
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.

      Yeah, would help...

Measurement: From the ground to the top of the wheel arch.

The easiest way to compare suspension measurements from one car to another is to measure from the bottom of rim (need to state which rim) to the top of the wheel arch. Not everyone will run the same type of tyres at the same pressure.
Also, it would be useful to post what the suspension height is when standard/straight from the dealer with no mods (perhaps state the amount of fuel in the tanks) so that you have a baseline to start with.

Good point on the fuel weight as it would have an impact.
Also brain kicked in regarding measuring from ground...air pressure of tyre..

Maybe from the centre cap to account for the different rim sizes would be to G.O.

Unfortunately I do not have my standard measurements, but would be useful to know.

Its hard to ocate teh exact centre of the wheel, thats why most people here measure from the bottom of the rim, in the 120 series with all cars having 17" rims it is pretty consitant.

If you go with the centre measurement I would still measure from the bottom of the rim and then subtract half the diameter of the rim, that will give you a consistant and accurate measurement regardless of the rim size.

            Cheers Andrew

True AJ120, Bottom of Rim looks to be the go, exact level ground for all 4 plays a bit part as well..
