  • Suspension 150 compared to 120 series

Hi all, Can anyone tell me if the 150 series and 120 series have the same suspension components?

The reason is, Repco have a special on Polyair bags 15% off, but do not list an airbag kit for a 150 series, therefore I can't order them. BTW the special finishes tomorrow so they need to be ordered by tomorrow (Sun 21st Oct). Repco can't call poly air to confirm on the weekend.

I have looked on Polyair's website and they list 150 with std height airbags (which has the same part number as a 120 std height) but not 150 with 2 inch lift. 120 is listed with 2" lift.

So 2 questions, 1) do the 2" lift air bag kits simply have a spacer?
    2) will the poly air partnumber listed for 2" lift air bag kit for 120 series fit the 150 series?

    Look forward to any help

    cheers

Have a 2" lift on a 150 from TJM shocks and coils also with Poly Air bags. The part number quoted on the installation sheet is 65212995. Do not know if that is a TJM part number or a Poly Air number. Regardless of that, it works well towing a van. Cannot see a spacer in there.

The 995 is for a 2inh lifted spring.

        Gday Johnboy67

Thanks to yowie i was able to track the part number and i do believe it is confirmed as the same part number for the 120 as it is the 150!

Click on link below and it will take you to the TJM parts reference page!

Once on this page scroll down past the 4runner/ FJ cruiser 11+/ Toyota fortuner and then you will come across the FJ cruiser J120 06-09 and i believe this is the prado 120!

The part number 65212995 (Provided by yowie) is for the pol-Air raised kit on the 150 series and also the same part number for the 120 series raised kit

        Cheers

PS when picking springs for the 120 series bear in mined that the 150 series is 240kg heavier (Stronger safty cell body) than the 120 series stock out of the box despite being same parts.
EG: If nice ride in the 150 (spring rating) it would be a slightly harder ride for the 120 due to the body being lighter by 240kg.

Hi Guys what an amazing response, This is my first prado after having had a 100 series diesel GXL from new in 99, (Hj75 before that and FJ 40 (shorty) before that) I (we, it's always been her car) just sold the hundred and bought an incrediblly cared for 09 150 GX at the right price and only joined this forum a week ago so appreciate the great response. Sorry I am waffling.

Okay back to business 12995 is the five digit part number from Polyair for 120 series with 2" lift. I'd say that TJM adds that 652 prefix for their accounting system. So my suspicions were right and I feel confident ordering the 120 series two inch lift airbag kit to suit the 150. Just need to get down to Repco and order the set tomorrow before the special finishes.

I read an earlier post on some other thread that said that Repco were the cheapest supplier of Polyair bags, let alone 15% discount.

Thanks again and I will confirm when I get the bags and fit them, that they do indeed fit. Just got to decide on what springs and shocks I'm going to use in the lift. Any suggestions? I have access to all equipment to do the job myself, including wheel alignment. I haven't actually done it on a Prado before but I'm sure its pretty straight forward and given the response today there's plenty of help out there.

          Cheers

          and Thanks

Just curious how much the bags will set you back after the discount?

You wouldn't believe it. Had a family picnic today so checked Repco's website for opening times, Perth Osborne Park store opening time 11AM to 5PM..... Arrived at 4:20PM and the place was shut up tight, shutters down the works and not a soul around I suspect long gone. Will see If I can still get the discount tomorrow I have a few good reasons ie. unable to quote on my car on the weekend and not open at their advertised opening times I'll see if I can get a sympathetic ear. For your info rwo, the price I was quoted on 120 std lift bags on Sat morn was $247 cheers.

Gday rwo final cost $279 for 2" lift kit apparently original price was $328 less 15%, the math works. Repco guy confirmed with Polyair that this was the right kit (which we all knew) and honoured the discount which ended yesterday because the store apprently didn't open at all, mix up in shifts I'm told. Its not the $247 I was hoping for but well below the $350 quoted by ARB, Wilkinsons, Pedders & WA suspensions. Cheers

Another option is the Firestone Coilrite kit shipped from the US.

                      Install details here (firestone).
                      Even better ones here (polyair).

Both the 4135 (standard height) and the 4107 (2" lifted) are available from trucksprings.com for about $140AUD shipped to Aus (that's with my shipping destination, yours may vary in cost). Apparently they are a better quality kit than the polyairs, but I haven't seen or used either so I'm not really sure.

Hi Skywalkerrun, thanks for the info on the ebay deal but a funny thing happened when I went to pick up the bags. Original guy that served me wasn't there, explained to new guy the situation, and the bonus was he was there when i ordered them and remembered me from my work shirt. He asked me what price I was quoted I said $279 he said "wow the list price is $410." I said "Well I can come back and see the other guy when he's here or you can just give me an even better price for all the hassle." He said "How does $250 sound?" I couldn't get the cash out of my wallet quick enough. Still smiling :-{)> j

Thanks rwo for the info and the great links on the install, these will really help me. As you can see from my earlier post I have now got polyairs for $250, I had looked at firestone coil-rite but the cheapest I saw on the bay was $275 Plus freight. Didn't think to go direct specially with the strong aussie $. DOH!!!, any how I have them in my hand and I'm still smiling. Now, just to get the springs and shocks.

LMAO!! How funny is that!... Just when you thought you had lost a good deal you actually fell into a kick-ass deal!!

Quote Johnboy67: I'll see if I can get a sympathetic ear.

Answer skywalkerrun: That sympathetic ear was listening and heard you!... Now who's laughing

                            Glad all come good!

                            Cheers
