Our Prado did the same thing (Bilstein long travel shocks and Dobinson springs) when the suspension was newish. I had forgotten about the knock as it hasn't made the noise in a long time. Maybe it's a a settling thing for the spring.

We have travelled over 30,000km on the suspension now, and it's absolutely awesome. The Prado still sits quite high with very little or no sagging in the springs. Our previous 120 Prado had OME suspension and I couldn't have been more disappointed. Absolute rubbish. The Bilstein and Dobinson set up I have now is very comfortable, carries loads well, does not fade, just the right amount of body roll that makes for a comfortable ride, and confidence inspiring in corners and roundabouts.

Hi, I am looking at this kit as well. however I have a few questions about the rear shock. The Bilstein rear shock for the Prado is approx 580mm long, a few people are using, and several vendors have recommended the 80series shock which is about 600mm, one vendor recommended a longer shock that is 620mm but designed for the weight of the Prado.
Which rear shock are people using.
Is the 80 series rear shock to firm for the Prado as it is valued for the heavier 80 series?

Well I have a 120 series but am running the 80 series rear shocks, Have a look here for details http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post357745

I didn't go for the heavy duty 80 series shocks as I thought they might be a bit harsh but instead went for a softer version N71E Old Man Emu, which work really well. Another member at the same time I did mine got a set of Nitro Chargers which are a bit heavier duty and he didn't last long before pulling them out before needing a kidney transplant.

          Cheers Andrew

Adding to this thread instead of creating another.

Just wanted to know if my quoted price for Bilstein/Dobinson combo seems reasonable?
Fitted for $1750, plus another $300 for airbags (fitted).

99% driving around town, but long trip with Kimberley Kamper to the Rock planned this year, and often camp with a lot of weight in the back plus loaded trailer (hence airbags in the rear).

                  $2050 fitted sound reasonable?

Edit: I didn't get the exact model springs/struts, but it wasn't to top end heavy duty stuff, due to the predominance of lightweight, city driving.

                  2nd edit: I guess it's about right: http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post503360

What part number Bilsteins? If they are not Aus Spec stock, that is a bit dear as they are a cheaper shock.

                    Regards, Jason.

Edit: Will that front setup be ok if I eventually add an ARB bullbar? On the Dobinson website, it says C59-302 is used for 70+100kg (bullbar with winch). Only planning a bullbar atm (50-60kg?), no dual battery (have a battery pack in the rear if required), or winch.
