  • Predator shocks from Raw 4x4

Hi guys looking to upgrade the suspension for the 150, I've come across the Predator from Raw 4x4, they are made in NSW by Powerdown. They make a lot of truck suspension for Australia. Has anyone used these shockers or heard anything about them?

    Cheers

    Josh

    seen them around.

if you do decide to go with them, make sure they run super pro bushes before fitment. the standard stuff doesn't last too long.

So the standard poly bushes are no good? What examples do you offer of them not lasting too long?
Its my understanding its a fairly new product, the "predator" ?

      Thanks.

I'd be interested to see what you were quoted on the RAW gear......i looked into it late last year and was quoted $1560 fitted.thats with King springs all round on a 2'' lift with Predator struts and what ever their Raw shacks are at the rear, pretty good i thought.........Ended up going Bilstein Dobinson but would have given Raw a try.

A mate put a full set of the Raw shocks in his 80 series and they seem pretty good........Powerdown have made shocks for years so they should be a good product IMO.

        Can I still play now I have a 200 series?........Had a 2008 120 Series D4D Manual 6 Speed...STANDARD White, Soverign Bar..........Rear Cage........Dashmat.......GX Wheels with Good Year Dura Tracs........Bilstein/Dobbo 2'' lift.....Safari Snorkel....Canvas Seat Covers.....20%tint..........55W HID Headlights.....Mudmats front and rear.....
        22'' Lightbar......

Thats a good price but i'm in Darwin and we pay for freight here........and anything else they want to throw at us.i'm good now i imported my Bilsteins for under $500

The local dealer of all things suspension wanted $2600 fitted for the Bilstein Dobinson 2'' lift........bit rich i thought.

It's a bit hard to get pics of every job that comes and goes. Fitted some up to a mates hilux and a month later the lower eye bush was cactus.

They may have changed that since.

And you get what you pay for, even if they are bilstiens.

Thanks guys for some feedback, just trying to do al my homework, the predators are fairly new to the market, but look pretty tough. I like the idea of them being made in Australia for our conditions, also the fact that they make truck suspension makes me think that they would be pretty heavy duty. I haven't got prices yet, I'd love some feedback from anyone that has them fitted.

                Cheers josh

We do deal with Raw 4X4 Products & they use a Poly bush of their own in them, very similar to the one's they use in their Truck Shocks.
They are a pretty good quality bush & we have not had any issues with them thus far.

                  Regards, Jason.

                    Trucks do not use struts.

the bushes are perfectly fine on a shock absorber, but when used in the lower eyes on a strut which holds the weight of the car, you can see how they may not last as long.

even if you get 6-12 months from them, its still a pain to take them out and replace the bush.

I have found the same, I have raw products in my vehicle. The bottom bush in the strut is good.

A lot better than their service lately

That's a pretty good warranty, are you still happy with yours ####? I suppose you shouldn't underestimate good quality bush, last thing you want is for them to be flogged out and loose..

Ahh the differences of the Strut to shock setup load requirements are true, but similar bushes as i mentioned does not always mean the same.
The duro rating of the bushes used in the 4WD IFS Struts is higher than the Duro rating in the normal Truck shock bushes.

Considering the longevity of the Truck Shocks & their expected lifespan, the bushes in them have to cope with a fair bit too.

                          Regards, Jason.

Amazingly, My bush is great, you know I hammer it pretty hard, when I get a chance, not enough.
I'd like to change them over every 6 months, but can't be flogged with it.
I'm even happier with no bush, less maintenance if you just don't have bushes.

The ride is harsh, in particular the front.
I think their valving is very firm.
