I have fitted 20-30-40-50-60-70mm lift to Prados, it all depends what you want from the vehicle & suspension.
I think that 25-30mm works really well on a Prado. It still allows ample down travel. It help keep centre of gravity down - safety.
It's keeps the vehicle very capable offroad. It also helps keep the strut in the ideal operating range. It's not all about being high, you might clear more objects, but you are not as flexible up high.
Dobinsons have a huge range of front coils, same spring rate, but in different lengths. Kings have a few but the rate changes too = firmer ride.

When my clients are interested in Ome, I tell them I think it's one of the best suspensions, because of the shocks in particular, it's no secret Arb/Ome is made by Monroe, I use those, they are cheaper. If you think the biggest o.e & aftermarket suspension manufacturer doesn't make their own "Monroe 4x4" as good or better than what they make for Ome, your still dreaming.

I hope that info helps you in your suspension decisions.

I am leaning towards your thoughts on a moderate lift. 50mm would be great offroad but I am concerned it may be a sacrifice for onroad performance. Dare I say this could be the cause of cracked inner guards...

My main goal is to get rid of the standard suspensions fluffy handling, and to not see the rear sag so much when I place camping gear in the back. However, it is mainly my wife's daily drive around town so I don't want to get too carried away with a lift that is focused on maximum clearance. I agree with keeping the strut in a range that is not too extreme to gain reliability and better ride. It seems that a 30mm lift is a nice happy medium. Where can I get further info on a Monroe and Dobinson setup? And a fitter in the Brisbane area?

        On another note

Do you normally get 50mm lift in a 2" lift? Or is it a little lower?

can't speak for ome...but my tjm suspension had my front end come out the same height that it went in at. Until I got them to put the spacers in, which put me at 790mm. Which is only 20mm higher than my original height.
I dont know that any of these lifts give a true 50mm lift.

This is the other point I need to consider. Maybe a lift will only give a certain percentage of the stated lift (say 70%). That would mean 35mm in this case. I am happy with that.

              Warnsie,

I know someone that might be able to help you in the brissy area.

I think that cracked inner gaurds are due to a combination of reasons I won't bother mentioning as it could cause arguments.

2" 50mm same thing. Give or take the 10mm anyway, you can't try & be too precise or you will be wrong, the front coils are in increments of 7-10mm which is 15-20mm at the front wheels & every vehicle is different.
Usually its pretty close to 50mm + or - 10mm.

Happy to give you my number if you would like to call me for advise, please p.m me.

                Hi Warnsie.

The lifts i have done on these have usually achieved close to or right on the full 50mm lift.
Give the guys at Performance Suspension on the Gold Coast a call. They are nice guys & should be more than happy to help you out.

                Regards, Jason.
P.S, i have no affiliation with them, but have always found them to be extremely helpful when i've called.
