  • 2" Lift Kit with Standard Grandtrek Tyres

I am in the process of committing to a 2" lift kit with the guys at Totally 4 x 4 in Perth but at this stage will be keeping the Grandtreks on.

Has anyone got photos of a 2" lift kit on a 150 with the standard Grandtreks? Does the lift make the vehicle look way to tall?

Would love to get some bigger tyres but budget will be the killer.

Thats how mine is sitting at the moment, TJM Gold 40mm lift with standard Grandtreks on. Will post a picture when I get home later this afternoon. Doesnt look to bad IMO, but will be glad to get some bigger shoes on it early next year.

My trip to the High Country last year had a 150 with standard Grandtrek H/T's and 2" lift. You could tell it was lifted compared to my stock 120 but I didn't think it looked too bad.
Some photos from my trip report:

Yes a good 2" lift & standard tyres do look a bit like cotton reels.

But it has to be done, right? & tyres can come later, in the mean time you can enjoy the new handling, clearance & ride.

Thanks 57one for the photo. WOW, #######, you hit it on the head when you say 'cotton reels'. The guys at Totally 4 x 4 let me take one of their own Prados with the suspension in it for a drive and the drive is so much better. On the standard rim, what is the maximum size tyre you can get without any rubbing etc? Im looking at the following:

BF Gooderich - Rugged Terrain LT245/70R17. Does this mean the tyre will be thinner than the current Grandtreks?

Maxxis - 275/65R17 AT 700 Bravo. Same height as Grantreks so will probably still look like 'cotton reels'.

Maxxis - 265/70R17 MA 751 Bravo. Not as aggressive looking though.

            Yokohama - 265/70/17 Geolandar ATS G012 Recommended by Totally 4 x 4

Im looking at getting the BFG 265/70R17 AT KO2 when they arrive, or MTs. Unless someone says I can go bigger, but from what I have read 265/70 is as big as we can go on the standard rim.

I know this off topic, but 57one, what carrier is that on top of your car?
I assume its as easy to put on and remove as normal racks but its a full bench?
Ive been wanting to get one i can attached for trips and not have it lugged around with me every day.

My 2c on the tyres, if you get a larger height tyre, wont that put your spedo out? or can that easily be fixed now days?
