They work just like any other height adjustable strut, there are two locking rings underneath the coil seat. You undo the bottom one, then wind the top one up until you get the ride height you want. Then you lock the bottom ring against the top one. You can do it on the Prado, unloaded wheel off at full droop, you'll just need to undo the swaybar and pull it up and out of the way. Just remember that the distance you wind up on the strut is x2 out at the wheel.
You'll need the Ironman c-spanner to do the adjusting.
I can supply the entire strut pre-assembled with new strut caps. If you prefer to use your old cap then you'll need to disassemble your old gear with amts recipe, reassemble with new Ironmans;

Got the new struts in today, first test drive on-road this arvo, I could feel the extra low-speed critical damping immediately, less nose dive under braking, and definitely less squat (which is what the low velocity damping was originally to do), so the additional low speed rebound has worked the way I wanted it to.
Whacked them over some gutters, very nice on compression, feels nicer than my old D563's.
Off-road test will come soon!

Hi , considering similarities between FJ Cruiser and Prado would this group buy be suitable for an FJ owner like myself? Large volume locally supported hydraulic shock could be a great option - i have looked into Koni Raids which these resemble (with added adjustment and better lift height ).

The Ironman Pros I have designed will go straight into an FJ. I've already invited anyone from FJCC who is interested to join the group buy. There are already a few from FJCC on the pre group buy list!
The Ironman Pros are better than the RAIDS in both length and valving terms.
A comparison between the front struts;
Ironman 45710FE
65mm body
45mm piston head
20mm shaft
565mm open length
Koni 88-1712
55mm body
36mm piston head
16mm shaft
548mm open length (shortest after market strut length known)
The Ironman Pros also hold more oil and run cooler than the RAIDS.
Hope this helps!

When I'm doing remote travel, I always take fully assembled struts. It's much easier to swap struts in and out this way rather than trying to disassemble the strut in the middle of nowhere!
Good quality struts/coils/strut caps are so cheap now, it's cheap insurance to carry assembled spares!

I've added you to the unofficial pre group buy list, you're number 15!
Coil wise, around 670lb/in up front and 280lb/in rear will work best with the custom valving.
Quite a few free height options for those rates, Ironman, King, Dobinsons all have coils that will work well, just depends on what lift you're chasing! Have a squiz at the PP suspension database for some options;

Still got a running PDP-11 in my old lab!!
16 it is!
You'll definitely have them on well before your Simpson trip! I'll have the struts field tested hopefully this weekend and get the long awaited group buy up and running!

I didn't bother spacing them (increasing open length) as I didn't have anything handy, so I threw the struts in at 565mm open.
You could add in a 5mm shaft spacer on top of the shroud spacer....but you will chew a few mm into your bumpstop safety margin, because the IFS bumpstop works at a slightly higher than 1:1 motion ratio, around 1.17:1, see here;
http://www.pradopoint.com.au/showthr...-120-Prado-IFS
The maximum safe closed length is around 435mm (100% bumpstop protection), the 45710 closed is 433mm, so you'll pop over by a few mm if you space it to 570mm open. Safest thing to do is then to space your bumpstop to ensure you still have 100% protection. Solid coil is well below 100% bumpstop compression, so you need to be careful otherwise you do run the risk of bottoming out.
Simplest thing to do is leave them at 565mm, which is still heaps of open length!
