  • KDSS warning light and Left lean

    Hi,
Not sure if anyone has experienced this issue before , but any insights into this would be greatly appreciated. I have a 2010 Kakadu and have about a 35mm lean to the left and a KDSS warning light which comes on intermittently. My local Toyota dealer has inspected the vehicle and says there is no oil in the KDSS system which I find unusual as it still seems to handle fine. Im looking at a minimum $1800 bill just for labour and a six week wait on the fluid to come from Japan if I go ahead, and that's not including fixing the lean. If anyone has experienced any KDSS fluid issues or left lean issues I would be grateful for any advice.

Has anybody been fiddling with it? lift fitted etc? it is under high pressure so the oil must have gone somewhere

No mate haven't touched it, and haven't noticed any oil leaks ever. Toyota just ran a diagnostics and that's what they came up with.

You could get the fluid from here (no affiliation)

Apparently you need special tools to replace the fluid. I would research around to see if anyone else other than Toyota can do it for you.

Watching as I have a post in same issue 2009 VX -same but my take from wa is the dealer (and I ) diagnosed leaking cylinder on front torsion bar. Lean came when rac put in new shocks and weren’t equipped to balance out - all care no responsibility from them too.
Look for weeping fluid on front or rear cylinder controlling torsion bars - if so fix is to buy the new cylinder and get Dealer to install. That price is just the part. Anyone knowing of someone able to refurb cylinder for a leaking seal to save the part cost let me know. I’m in Perth.

The KDSS system was designed by a guy in Perth from memory. That aside, its a Hydraulic piston/cylinder. Any decent hydraulics repair shop should be able to sort it out easily. Being Mining capital of Aust, I'd imagine there is a few around the place.
