  • OME , Dobinsons or Ironman

Without opening a can of worms, wanted to get peoples experiences with total suspension upgrades for a 150 Prado Petrol .
looking at doing mostly city driving with occasional caravan towing (2 tonne van) to caravan parks , maybe occasional beach driving- nothing too extreme
Just having trouble deciding between an Ironman suspension package , Old Man Emu from ARB or a Dobinsons/Bilstein combination from an independent mechanic???
Airbags will also be installed , so really just after some advice or experiences people have in regards to the three brands ??

    Thanks

On Prado 150 GXL : I have Dobinsons springs (softest version) with Bilstein's shocks. Fitted by Dobinson Adelaide. A bit firmer ride but so much better handling plus the off-road benefits..

I think all of those brands have good reputations, so you probably can't go too wrong.

I've have an Old Man Emu kit on my 2018 Prado GX diesel for 2 years now. It's been great on and off road and with the Prado loaded to GVM. A bit firmer of course, but that is a virtue as far as I am concerned.

      Front:
      - Spring: 2887 (bull bar, no winch)
      - Nitrocharger Sport Strut: 90010

      Rear:
      - Spring: 2898 (200 Kg constant weight)
      - Nitrocharger Sport Shock: 60080

Some reasons to choose Old Man Emu?

      - 3 year warranty
      - Comes with stone guards for the rear shocks (which you want if doing a lot of outback gravel roads)

Personally, I wouldn't get air bags - just another thing to futz with and potentially fail. Just get heavier springs and live with the firmer ride around town.
