  • Question replacement srandard suspension Prado 2023

Hello everyone, here's a message from France. Have been reading articles on this subject, but cannot seem to find an answer for my stamdard Prado.
after 9 months of waiting, received my new 2023 Prado. The models are called different here, but mine is a step below what is called Kakadu.
I don't have KDSS (anymore) but I do have the 19 inch wheels.
I live in a mountainous area and drive a lot of curves. I find it striking the steering feels much lighter and find it much more nervous than my previous 150, which had KDSS. Actually I find the road handling fairly disappointing, and now I want to see if I get a more stable steering behavior with other springs and shock absorbers. I don't have a bullbar, winch, or anything, will do minor or no offroading and will be using the Prado for long distance on the highway. Any thoughts about what my suspension should look like? Thanks in advance!

You may not get a lot of help on here because most modify for tough outback travel rather than handling. That said try contacting the big Australian suspension suppliers like OME, TJM, IRONMAN etc and Bilstein and Kong in Europe. Good luck.

I'm not sure what you have over there in the way of suspension. I'd assume Koni would be reasonable price, if so personally id use a set of heavy track shocks (82 series) and some kings KTFR -168 and KTRS-102 springs, should maintain standard height while increasing rigidity and they are adjustable shocks which can handle standard height springs..

Thanks both of you . Still not too impressed with the handling, so I will check your answers out.

I have not checked the part numbers but possibly the KDSS sway bar is a thicker/heavier than non KDSS sway bars as the KDSS system effectively "disconnects" the sway bar offroad which would allow for a heavier sway bar.
As your looking at improving handling through winding tarmac roads I would investigate thicker/heavier sway bars as opposed to shocks and springs.
